I hate when people call Alzheimers "old timers" ugh really?!?! It's an actual diagnosis named after a man, not something you get just because you're old.
People do that??
Seriously? Who are you hanging out with lol! I could see a child making that mistake and it being really cute but do adults actually say this?
I get really irritated when I hear someone be all "Learn English, this is 'Merica". Just accept the fact that our country is becoming bilingual. Nobody is forcing you to learn Spanish, and there are plenty of bilingual people around to communicate with those who don't speak English. And FFS, stop trying to build the fence!
My UO is that polygamy is not inherently bad or dangerous and should be legal.
piggybacking off of this, I've been learning a lot about Mormonism lately because of a very ..infamous.. client of ours (can't say whom, take your guesses) and the persecution and stereotyping against Mormons is really disgusting. Most of what we're led to believe about them is horribly false and ignorant. Thanks media.
I am Mormon, and it seriously pisses me off that people still think we are crazy polygamists. Nope. TOTALLY different religion!!!!

Totally agree. And accept that we're ALL from immigrants here. If you really want all immigrants out then we should be giving the country back to the native americans.

From my understanding (@fourthnlast - correct me if I'm wrong), Mormons that participate in polygamy are Fundamentalists, specifically following Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints? It's not really the norm anymore in the mormon religion at all. Same way you still have some fundamentalist Christians or any other religion. Let me know if I'm off base - I only know from what I've read about.
I don't know if I have a UO today. But I agree with a lot of the ones posted. I definitely can't stand the sex posts and once you start reading you can't stop and it's like WHYYYYY did you think that needed to be shared!?

Yes. My dad calls it "some-timers" when he can't think of stuff now. I just shake my head. He'd never say it in front of people he doesn't know, but he definitely thinks he's funny at home.

I hate the Bahamas, not a destination I'd pick again.
This plays into my UO - I hate beach vacations in general. I don't want to go to Mexico or the Bahamas. I think just laying on a beach for a week is super boring and I'm already brown, so it's not like I'm working on my tan. I'd much rather vacation somewhere with historical sites and interesting places to visit and learn about.
Same here but mostly because we are from a town that has "the whitest beaches in Florida" that are only 20 minutes away. I would much rather spend a vacation in the mountains or maybe travel around Europe. Plus, from what I've seen, most beaches are the same. Sand, water, cheesy stores and restaurants/bars. No thank you.
Oh and re the Bahamas... There are a zillion islands. I've never been to new providence (where Nassau is) but have been to grand bahama. I loved it. The nicest flattest beaches anywhere and it was easy to get around. I would die to go to Eleuthera or exuma. Nassau isn't a representation of what the rest of the country is like.
I've been on two cruises to the bahamas and each time I wasn't impressed by Naussau. The only place I really enjoyed was this tiny island called "cococay" and that's because it was strictly designed for tourists. We went snorkeling and enjoyed the hammocks. Much nicer than walking around a dirty city.

I agree to this... to an extent. I think expecting everyone to know English who lives here is a little much, however, expecting every office to cater to your language needs is equally as rediculous. some countries require all of their citizens to be bilingual and start that training in elementary school and follow through with it and have two official languages. the USA only has ONE OFFICIAL language so if you walk into a governmental or state operated building, you cannot EXPECT that we will be able to converse with you in your native tongue. Don't get me wrong, I am a first generation American and my grandmother lived here since I was born until she died and never learned English, and I don't have a problem with that and only kept her native tongue (urdu). However, she never expected the social security office to speak with her in Urdu and always brought a translator with her (usually my dad or me).

Chocolate and caramel is one of the best combinations for chocolate imaginable! Especially when you add a little sea salt.
I'm also not a fan of professional maternity pictures. I would feel incredibly awkward. I am doing the HDBD pictures but they certainly aren't shared with anyone outside of TB.

I don't know if you meant that literally, English is our official language, because the U.S. does not recognize an official language, but people are moving to set English as one. Not arguing with your point, just saying!
I didn't mean it literally but more as in governmental and state work is usually in English only and since we don't have a language that's not English set as an official one, you can't expect to be catered to.

My grandmother does it, drives me crazy. She and most of her family also say crick instead of creek, chimley instead of chimney, valentimes, Cincinnata and my personal favorite the word learn in the place of teach.
I have no issue with the stretch marks appearing on my body. Every time someone posts something about how they can avoid them, I just don't understand. To me, they feel like medals of honor that this little baby is growing big and strong. This doesn't mean I'm not having other body issues, but stretch marks are certainly not part of them.
agreed! Stretch marks are love marks! And either way it's all genetics and personal body type.. Some women get them, some don't.. Whether you spend every waking minute rubbing creams on your body or not.
I hate the sun and summer. I hate being outside. I get sunburned and hot. Lying on a beach is my personal idea of hell. Once it hits 80 I'd rather be inside, thanks.

I couldn't agree more! I'm in the category of "I'm already covered with stretch marks" from puberty. I grew 12" 2 years in a row and gained 30lbs heading into high school and have stretch marks all over my boobs, ass, hips, thighs, lower back and even the back of my knees. And yes they have faded to white, but they're not thin and don't "blend in" they're stretch marks because my body stretched and they look like scars all over my body. I've learned to accept them, knowing that 90% of women have them. I'm pretty certain that no matter what I do this pregnancy my belly will also be covered or at least have a few. My mother and 3 sisters all got them with their pregnancies. There's no point in even trying to stress about them.

IDK, I think there are a lot of bilingual people here, so it is pretty likely that someone who doesn't speak English can find someone to help them. In my experience, I also find that people frequently do have translators with them (usually their children) or can speak enough broken English to get their point across. I don't think it's standard that people stomp into buildings demanding to have someone who speaks their language because they refuse to learn English.

I sound like a broken record every time I have to explain that we don't practice polygamy and haven't since it became illegal in the 1800's...

Yes, you are right. The FLDS have a completely different set of beliefs from the Mormon or Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I totally agree with the bilingualism and the benefits. But I think everybody should know a little of both.
I disagree with your fence statement. Just because we share a border with Mexico doesn't mean that they should enter this country freely. Everybody else has to go through the process, and they should too.
Unfortunately, the process for Mexicans almost always results in a "No, you can't come" answer.
I hate the sun and summer. I hate being outside. I get sunburned and hot. Lying on a beach is my personal idea of hell. Once it hits 80 I'd rather be inside, thanks.
Me too! I hate summer and I hate being hot. Which is why I love Michigan, it's typically winter or at least cooler temps 6 months out of the year. The 3 months of summer make me want to die.
My UO today is that while I love all big dogs, I hate cats and small dogs. I won't even pet them. And I don't understand why someone would adopt or buy a "toy" breed anything.

Oh man I love the beach. But I live in KY where our nearest (ocean) beach is a 10+ hour drive. I dream of moving closer to the ocean. Even within a 6 hour radius would make me happy. I'd prefer only a coupe, but I don't need to be ON the beach.
As far as spending a lot of money and flying though there are many other vacations I would choose before I'd pack up my family for an all-inclusive Caribbean vacation - I'd much rather take them to Europe or something.
My great-great grandparents rode the boat over here from Bulgaria. Yes we are all from immigrants.
No I don't think it's right to send back a mother who had her children here. The children get to stay but the mother has to go. That's cruel.
But land and resources are not infinite. Just an idea, but maybe if there weren't so many "undocumented workers" to do the "undesirable" jobs, maybe those employers would have to pay more in wages. Instead, there is a butt load of cash going out, and no income tax coming in. There is a huge meat processing plant in the vicinity of where I work. The facility looks like a high security prison, only it's meant to keep people out. That way when INS comes they can hide all of the undocumented workers by the time INS makes there way in.
This is why we are in desperate need of immigration reform. All of the illegals are already here living off of our resources, so why not give them the opportunity to become legal citizens? I'm sure that the vast majority of them would pay taxes in order to not have to worry about being found and deported.
My UO today is that while I love all big dogs, I hate cats and small dogs. I won't even pet them. And I don't understand why someone would adopt or buy a "toy" breed anything.
