What are you dressing your LOs in for sleeping at night now that it's getting cold out? We have a space heater in her room that we keep around 70 and then she sleeps in a long sleeved footy pajama... does she need a sleep sack as well? She also likes to stand in the crib... does the sleep sack make it dangerous if babies want to stand? Just curious what others are doing!
Re: Winter weather sleeping attire
I've worked for families where the kids could run around the house with their sleep sacs on. They figure it out quickly...no worries about safety!
Our house is cold...the upstairs is a good 5degrees Celsius (40F) colder than main level (pretty sure that's because of our sky light). We tend to reach 16degrees (61F) up there in the winter. Our house is too big to try and heat more to have extra heat pumped upstairs so we layer up and it seems to work. Space heaters make me nervous.
Anyways, she is currently in a long sleeve onsie, a long sleeve shirt over that, a fleece footed sleeper, a thick sleep sac and I put a folded knit blanket over her, waist down (she doesn't move in her sleep and it stays tucked in).
She doesn't seem to wake more or less based on number of layers she has on. I just kind of judge based on how many layers I have (really thick comforter counts as 2 layers).
Oh, depending on how the sleep sac secures up top if they walk around in their crib a lot they may walk right out of the sleep sac. The snaps on shoulders unsnap if they walk and their feet pull it tight...then as they keep going they literally walk out of it and you will find it fully zipped but unsnapped in crib...again not a safety concern.
For a funny note...I worked for a 13 month old, he went to bed one night wearing a diaper, t-shirt and sleep sac. When they woke in the morning he was wearing only a t-shirt and sleep sac and the diaper was dry and on the floor. The parents were baffled. His bed was soaked. He managed to somehow remove the diaper while in the sleep sac before going to sleep hahahaha....so...always use a onesie with snaps over the diaper lol.
Our house is set to 68 and DD sleeps in fleece footie PJs. She seems fine.
