Introduction... No more lurking!

Hi everyone! I have been lurking on this board for over a year, and I've finally decided that it's time to introduce myself. My wife and I are TTC-ing our first, and we have our very first IUI tomorrow!! We are so excited! We have been legally married for a little over a year, but together for over 7 years, and have known each other for almost 11 years. We live in the DC area, and have for pretty much our entire lives (my wife moved around a bit due to being from a military family, but they've been in the DC area since she was about 6. I'm 35 years old (36 in Dec), work in the beauty industry, am a classically trained singer. I've been overweight pretty much my entire life, but have lost about 62 pounds (and 3 clothing sizes) since January 2013. I started running in April, and have since completed four 5ks. I'm not at all fast, and I run/walk, but I guess I'm faster than anyone sitting on the couch. I'm still overweight, but healthier than I've ever been. I also have Lupus, which complicates EVERYTHING, especially TTC. But, thankfully, my Lupus is in remission, and I hope it stays that way forever! My wife (K) is 34 years old, works with budgets at a very large nonprofit. She was fit and athletic through undergrad, but then began to put on a few pounds through grad school and in the years that followed. She is slightly overweight, but really more "chubby" than what I would consider overweight. She started working out after I did (she says I inspired her), and eating better (no choice when I'm cooking, LOL), and she's lost about 25-ish pounds. She has high-blood pressure (inherited) that is controlled with meds. She is one of 4 children, and has a twin brother. The road to TTC has been a bumpy one for us. But, we are soooooo thankful to finally be at the point of actual trying! Geez, this is incredibly long, so I'll stop here. Feel free to ask any questions if there's anything I left out, or you're curious about. :)

ICI #1 (home) - May 2014 - BFP!! Beta #1 - 5/30 - 164; Beta #2 - 6/6 - 4794!!!

    Welcome to the boards, its a big step to start posting and put yourself out there.  I think we have an awesome group of people on this board, so feel free to ask questions, but its also a good thing you have been around and can read previous posts.  Newbies tend to ask the same questions over and over again :-)

    It's a GIRL!
    We welcomed Adalyn Cooper Elizabeth on 8/29/14
    She was 7lbs 11oz and 19.6 inches long

    Together since 2/15/11 ~ Legally married in NY on 9/29/12

    We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013. 

    11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good. 

    12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

    12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

    1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

    We are Mommas to four fur babies - 3 dogs and 1 cat.

    5 medicated IUIs w/ RE (March - July 2013) = BFN

    Fresh IVF Cycle in September 2013 resulted in 18 mature eggs, 16 fertilized, 12 made it to day 5. Transfer of 2 Grade A blastocysts on 9/15/13, and 10 embryos in the freezer!      *****BFP on 9/25/13 - betas: @10dp5dt = 232; @12dp5dt = 465; @15dp5dt = 1,581   *********William George born June 4, 2014*********

    Welcome. And I'm glad to see you here! I'm also a classically vocally trained MUA. Haha! I Worked in the industry in college and then again for two years as a second job getting ready to TTC And still love it! S and i have been together for 7 years as well! Welcome and let us know the outcome of your iui.

    OMG! @songbird31... we're twins! I've been doing more work as a nail tech lately, as opposed to makeup, but I'm still doing weddings and such here and there. I absolutely love it! always have...

    TTC our first. Married to, and madly in love with, my beautiful wife. Living with our fur baby and enjoying 19 nieces and nephews. 
    • DW and I have been tracking, preparing, getting medical testing since January 2013.
    • First Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm 08/02/13: BFN
    • Second Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm 09/11/13, 09/13/13, 09/15/13: BFN
    • Third Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm: 10/13/13, 10/15/13, 10/17/13, 10/21/13: BFN
    • January 2014: Sonohysterogram shows excellent lining & tubes have no blockages
    • Fourth Cycle:  Monitored clomid cycle  w/ ICI's at home: 1/24/14 and 1/25/14. Ovulation verified:  BFN
    • Fifth Cycle: 02/2014 Femara 5mg with ovidrel trigger CD14: BFN
    • Taking a few months off to evaluate if we want to keep trying

    Yes cosmetics can be so fun! I used to do weddings a bunch both makeup or singing. Lol. I ended up choosing musical theater ( before becoming a "corp sellout") which made for a lot of alto 1 type roles/training and I have always loved singing harmony, but Classically trained and sung alto, mezzo and full lyric sop. So funny!
