vaginal odor without discharge after c section?

TMI I know but just wondering.  I'm almost five weeks out from my c section and not bleeding and haven't bled for a couple weeks. However, I'm experiencing vaginal irritation  and a foul odor.  I have my 6 week appt next week and just called the doc today and mentioned the irritation and she said it can be normal but I forgot to mention the odor.  Just wondered if anyone has had this. From what I've read, it sounds like if it's discharge with an odor it's usually an infection and can be easily treated but again, I'm not having any discharge at all.  Any thoughts?

  • I am experiencing the same thing, and the reason this is puzzling me is the lack of discharge. Since u had a c section, I think as long as the section itself is not red, warm or has discharge, then u shouldn't worry. Let me know what the doc says

  • I didn't smell normal for awhile after DD1 and noticed it now too. OB said it was normal and no infection. It wasnt horrible, just noticeable. I nurse and I wonder if it is a hormone related thing

  • I had that, also with no discharge, after 1st and 2nd cs. Both times my doc called in a Rx for a vag cream treating me for BV and it cleared it up and smell and slight irritation went away. I highly suggest asking your doc for treatment, there's no need to suffer!

  • It sounds like it's probably normal, but I just wanted to be sure you know that it's not just the exterior incision that can become infected, but the internal (uterine) one as well. Take your temperature and if it's normal than you probably have nothing to worry about.
