caring for c section scar

Hi! I have heard several different stories about caring for a c section scar so I would like to know what you are doing or have done for yours? I've heard to massage it daily but then I've heard not to...also to use vitamin e oil and then I've heard it doesn't make a difference. Id like to know what others are doing!.I am 12 weeks pp and don't want any future problems or issues with scar tissue if I can prevent it! Thanks

Re: caring for c section scar

  • My Ob told me to diligently take Motrin daily to make my scar "pretty". I don't know if there is any truth to it but I know I took it for at least a month, probably more. And my scar is hardly visible. I used mederma for a while but don't think it made much difference so I quit.

  • I had my third CS last week but I did nothing special for my scar the first two times and it was barely visible a few months after. All I used was Aveeno lotion that i use everyday.

  • I did nothing for my incision or scar.  I just left it alone completely.  It is now the tiniest faint line 9 months post partum.  I think that as long as you avoid infection, the greatest determining factor as to how your scar heals is how well the doctors did at closing your incision.

  • I'm not even 2 weeks Pp and I'm told mine looks awesome. I was instructed to keep it dry and just wash with soap and water- that it would take care of itself. From what I can see myself it looks great.
