What are some things that you need for boys but not girls? I can think of peepee teepees and that's it...anything else? I have a daughter at home but am having a boy this time!
We only used our peepee teepees a handful of times. It was just an extra step in the diaper changing process that we didn't really need.
I am interested to read any answers you get. I have a little boy at home, but can't think of anything extra we need for him that little girl doesn't need. I don't think that a newborn really needs too much. As he gets older and develops a personality, I would try to find things specific to him and who he is becoming.
A wash cloth does just as well, if not better, as the tee pees. I could never get those to stay on a wiggly boy.
Boys don't need anything special or different. If you circumcise you'll need petroleum jelly until it heals.
The toys will be different (maybe) as he grows. Otherwise, you're gtg momma.
I remember now, I think it was easier for us to lay down a wipe if needed.
And I agree, I couldn't get the little tee pees or the big cover thing to stay on as he wiggled around.
There's definitely no need for a peepee teepee. And depending on the circumcision (I think there are different methods/recommendations), you might not need petroleum jelly. I know we didn't use any. Really, though, otherwise--I can't think of anything you have to have that would be different for a boy versus a girl.
We never used pee-pee tee-pees. I couldn't be bothered with that nonsense. I just laid an extra diaper or burp rag over him until I was ready to put a new diaper on. I cannot think of anything gender specific we needed for him. Other than caring for a circumscision (if you chose to do so).
The teepee things are a total waste, don't even worry about those. I can't think of anything that hasn't already been said. The hospital provided us enough jelly for the circ and some super soft gauze too. I guess for boys you really need less, no bows or anything to mess with.

I agree with the other posters! Teepees are a TOTAL waste of money, I never needed anything. Plus, after a few months you are wrestling the diapers on anyway and won't have time and patience for such things!! As far as the circumcision care, we purchased Vaseline and gauze and didn't even use it. They give you plenty in the hospital and with our second son we just asked for more to go home with which we never even needed! I will say, though, the newborn gowns are nice for the hospital. It makes caring for the circ site and diaper changes SO easy!

Seriously those peepeeteepees are a waste of time/fabric/money. We rarely even needed to use a washcloth/wipe.
Babies are pretty much eat/shit/sleep for a long time - and my kid loves to play with dolls and dress up as much as his trucks so I don't really think toys are that different until much later.
Wash cloths are fine in place of tee pee pp's. We never used anything other than the diaper for DS though. We'd go to change him and 'flap' the diaper open and closed on him before we completely removed it. That way he got that cold air that usually makes them pee but would have the top part of the diaper back over him if he did pee... Hard to explain and we looked funny doing it, but it worked for the most part!

Yes! We did this too! Takes a minute to get it down, but it works... Plus, you have to get peed on at least a couple times!

Haha, exactly! DS got my XH good one day, diagonal from shoulder to knee... It was awesome.

Honestly, I can't think of a single boy-specific item that you'll need.
