~*~ Tuesdays' Getting Healthy Check-In ~*~

This check-in is not necessarily exercise-related - I know a lot of us are trying to eat healthier and give up bad habits thanks to the motivation of pregnancy/new baby, so any kind of getting healthy is welcome here!
What did you do last week?
What do you have planned for this week?
What is your goal?
QOTW:  For some of us, it feels like winter is finally here!  Do you love it or hate it?

  • What did you do last week?  Last week I got in my planned 60km, and the abs, squats and arm challenge things.

What do you have planned for this week?  I planned on doing another 60 this week but I am behind already, lo had a fever yesterday and DH didn't want me going out.

What is your goal?  To loose the last little bit of weight by Christmas, I have not weighed myself in a couple weeks, not have I attempted my jeans. Maybe I will today....

QOTW:  For some of us, it feels like winter is finally here!  Do you love it or hate it? If Winter was only 2 months I would be happy with it, but it seems to last from November to March of April. I do enjoy winter running though!

  • @tttwalters Thanks! Me too. I signed up for this same half 2 years ago, but I lost that battle to my knee. After a couple of cortisone shots, a new brace, and realizing I badly needed new shoes... things are a bit better now. I'm a little jealous of your winter runs. All my winter running is pretty much dreadmill running. Gross. Lol. And, I couldn't agree more about March or April. The half I'm doing is the last weekend of March, and the last few years I've done the 5k. It's been 50's one year, and like upper 20's another. So lame.
  • @musicalsilver - sorry about the screen name change- thanks for tracking me down!

Last week: Played a couple games of soccer and had a couple good runs.  I have fallen off the wagon with the squats though.

This week: More soccer- but I probably only will have time for one run.  I am going to jump back on the squats though and make up for what I missed.

Goal: No more candy!  I need a sugar detox badly!

Winter: Love it from a far; hate actually having to function in winter.

  • I'm really discouraged this week, and am reluctant to fill this out...

Last week: I did 3 sets of pure barre, and thus spend every other day with muscle soreness that makes me feel like I've been hit by a truck. Ran 12 miles. Cut out alcohol and sweets. Stayed under 1800 calories a day. Drank 70 oz of water every day..........didn't lose an oz and think I may have gained half a lb.

    Very discouraging.

This week: do the same thing, I guess.

Goal: I don't even know anymore. I guess try to get fit and stop looking at the scale. I have been around 140 lbs for 2 months and it doesn't seem to matter what I do, so I doubt I'll lose 10 more lbs by Christmas like I planned.

QOTW: hate. So much hate. The holidays make it bearable, but since I live in the south it doesn't get truly cold til January. I wish I could hibernate from Jan-March.

  • @jo27key I am agreeing with @stackie16 on this one. Sometimes your body doesn't always react the way we hope, but just keep it at. I say this to myself as much as to you. I just found a picture of me 4 months after DD2. I looked fantastic, yes I'm tooting my own horn. Now, I'm 5 months after DS, and I still have much farther to go than I was hoping. Looking back I'm not sure how I did it so well with 2, because 3 is seriously mission impossible sometimes. I just long to wear cute clothes and feel GOOD in them. We shall complain together today, and suck it up and keep at it anyway

Last week I walked and ran a bit. I also ate like crap so the scale has stayed steady.
This week I plan on doing something active everyday, and hopefully run a few evenings. We'll see how the week goes since DH is gone.
Still got 10lbs to get to prepreg weight.
I love winter, probly because we don't have it.

    @kellen&estevan mean.
  • :p Lol @tiffletons518 sorry! But seriously I would love to go play in the snow! Plus it feels more Christmassy (is that even a word?) when it's cold out!

I can agree with that! I always hope for snow JUST for Christmas, but then it has to melt the next day. Lol.
  • Last week I ran 4 times, did the ab and squat challenge, arm challenge AND plank challenge every day. One of the runs was my first post baby 5k and I did it in 28 mins. Not a PR but pretty decent! I also can hold a 4 minute plank now. All of this is the positive face I am putting on for not losing an ounce! F the scale. I wasn't great with Halloween candy but I was a pretty healthy eater too. Sigh.

This week will be harder to keep up schedule wise as I'm throwing a pampered chef party Thursday night. All my free time has been cleaning and cooking so far and after last week I'm not even really motivated to find time for exercising. Think in just going to focus on the challenges and eating.

Goal is regular pants by Christmas.

I hate cold weather. Ironic because I was born and raised in Buffalo.

  • @tiffletons518, I am sure you know... but replace your shoes every 600km! And that goes for all you other ladies, worn out shoes, or the wrong shoe can do a lot of damage and leave you injured for a long time. If you all have a running store (like running room) near you, you can go in and get properly fitted for the shoe that is right for you. You don't have to be a runner, whatever cardio you do needs a properly fitted shoe. I am speaking from experience andplusalso, if your feet changed at all during pregnancy and have not gone back to normal (mine have not) you may need to find a different shoe.

  • @tttwalters Sooo true. I had just WAAY underestimated the amount of miles I had on them. Once I actually sat down and figured it out, I was like, crap.. I should've replaced these months ago. Lol. Then I went to my local running store and got fitted for some good ones. I notice as long as I don't try and run everyday, am good about resting when my knee tells me to, and replace my shoes regularly.. I am generally ok. Good shoes truly make all the difference!
  • @tiffletons518, you know you are a runner when, a pair of new shoes excites you way more then a new purse or pair of regular shoes!

  • @tttwalters Haha yes! I would never spend that much on.. well anything else really. But, I'll dish out some cash on a good pair of cute running shoes!
