my sister just got a new job which involves traveling. She is about 5 hours away 1 week/month and occasional other trips, she has one coming up that she will have to fly for. I was thinking of getting her something for Christmas to help with the traveling but I'm looking for some advice. They reimburse her meals so a gift card for an area restaurant wouldn't really make sense. Maybe a gift card to get her nails done in the area she travels to or a week pass to an area gym. She just got back from her 1st trip and she was homesick and bored. She's not married and doesn't have any kids. Any suggestions?
Re: those who do or have traveled
As pp mentioned if she is a reader an e-reader and gift cards to purchase e-books is a good idea. if she has an ipad or tablet maybe a subscription to Netflix, or iTunes gift cards so she can buy some new apps or music etc. In the same vein maybe a nice set of headphones or Bluetooth earbuds.
I do think a gift card or certificate to a local salon for a mani/pedi or other service would also be a nice way to spend an hour or two after her work day.
i was going to suggest all of these things!
I was going to suggest traveling supplies- like something to hold her straightening or curling iron, matching toiletries bag, etc.
You could even get it all to match from Vera Bradley, including a kindle case!
I second the ideas for a kindle or ipad, noise cancelling headphones. What about hiring a housekeeper to clean the house before or right after she gets back, or a personal chef to help cook meals right before or right after she goes. When I travel, H usually does take out, so I'd love to know that he had real meals to heat up while I was gone.
ETA: ignore my last few, just saw you said she wasn't married and no kids. if thats the case, I say send a nice bottle of wine to her hotel room for her to enjoy!
