C-sections

Rash after c section

I had my third CS on Wednesday. Friday night in the hospital I developed a rash on my stomach, above my belly button, about 3 inches high and across from side to side. Sometimes it looks like sunburn, sometimes it has white bumps on it. The nurses saw it and offered Benadryl but I didn't want to be any more tired then I already am. They had no explanation. I spoke to the medical assistant at my OB today and will be seeing her tomorrow. I thought maybe it was from my binder so I stopped wearing it but I love the binder so today I put it on over a tight tank top. Anyone experience anything like this?

Re: Rash after c section

  • I had a rash after each c/s. The first was an allergic reaction to the adhesive and took longer to heal than my incision! 2nd time I requested the "gentle prep" and at least avoided the allergic reaction but the damn morphine in my spinal made me itch so bad that I basically itched myself into a rash! Clearly, my body sucks.

  • I got both a rash and blistered. I started getting a rash after they took off my dressing. It started under my boobs/along my ribs and my belly. I also blistered really bad from about my belly button down. They weren't sure of it was the tape, pain meds or yeast. They said to take Benadryl which like you said, you're already tired and also be care because it could affect milk supply if your nursing. I used an athletes foot cream( a yeast cream) and it helped clear it up.

But then just as that was clearing up I broke out into hives all over my arms, belly, boobs, behind my knees, my neck etc. I got put on a prescription antihistamine. I wonder if I need up with PUPPs pp. dr seem to think that wasn't it. It took a couple of weeks to finally clear up.

Good luck- I know how much it sucks!

  • Thanks everyone, saw my dr yesterday and she pointed out it is exactly at the height where I got my spinal so she said it is probably a reaction to one of the meds. She gave me a hydrocortisone cream and it is so much better already. So glad it wasn't the binder because I love that thing.
