Canadians-Heading to the cenotaph?

Its only a little over an hour away, but 11am is approaching quickly (here in Ontario). Is anyone heading to their local cenotaph with LO for Remembrance Day?

Its snowing and raining really hard outside here. But we're going. DDs great grandfather landed on Juno Beach on Dday in WWII and I think its important that we go.

ETA sorry, posted on the wrong board

  • I'll respond even though it was the wrong board!

We didn't make it to the ceremony this year but we had a ceremony at church yesterday with the trumpeter and flag ceremony and a reading of all the names of loved ones that have died and served in the war. Of course, my 8 month old slept through it all, including the trumpet.

We do have books we bought at Juno Beach and Vimy Ridge when we visited 2 years ago, they do a great job of explaining the impact of the war.  We've been reading them to her, they are way advanced but she enjoys any story these days.

In future years we'll read these books (and others), have discussions and attend various ceremonies so she grows up understanding the importance of Remembrance Day.
