Do I really need Playard Sheets??

We registered for a pretty standard no frills playard.  We travel a lot and figured if we can keep up with it, the playard would be ideal to travel with.  Plus, we might leave it set up in the living room.  We'll see about that.

Do we really need the fitted sheets and waterproof mattress pad cover?  Isn't the mattress also the means of transporting the playard?  So if we're using it for its portability we'd have to take off all the bedding just to pack it up.  Can't I just tuck a blanket in?

Re: Do I really need Playard Sheets??

  • Blankets can come loose too easily for me to be comfortable doing that. We have sheets for our PNP and leave them on when we fold it up, they don't interfere with folding it at all. It's much easier to take sheets off and wash them then to have to scrub up the mattress if the baby spits up, diaper leaks, etc.

  • I wouldn't want to sleep on a air mattress with no sheets why would I make lo?
I wouldn't either, hence why I referred to tucking a blanket in.

I think I'll go with your advice TallAsh and just use regular crib sheets.

This is what we do. I would definitely recommend at least the sheets because it is not easy to scrub the mattress clean.

  • We have play yard sheets. We do quite a bit of traveling as well, it wasn't that big of a deal packing a couple sheets. We will prob be investing in a water proof pad now for our DD because of her new found hobby of stripping off her clothes and diaper while "napping", otherwise never had a need for it.
