TTC after 35

Well, Hello There... (Older Child and Loss Mentioned)

This is probably one of the last places I thought I'd ever be. On The Bump. But, here I am.  Hello!

Up until about four months ago, I had not given having another child a second thought. I have a 17-year-old son and was completely happy.  But, life has other plans for us sometimes.  In July, I found out I was pregnant. A week later, I found out I was going to miscarry.  A week after that I was recovering from a D&E. All this is in the month before I turned 39.

After my miscarriage, I never knew I could yearn so badly for something I didn't even know I wanted.

My husband (who is five years older than I am) and I, went to counseling to figure out our game plan.  I knew that getting pregnant or attempting to get pregnant again and at my age was not going to be easy and wanted to be assured that he would be comfortable with what may lay ahead. He's fully on board and has been so supportive.  I don't know how long we're going to try - all this is so new to me/us, but I'm going to give it my all.

My OB has stated there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to have a healthy pregnancy.  I have been to a RE and will start tests and procedures in January.  I joined a RESOLVE support group because this is such a lonely process - we haven't shared with anyone - family or friends.  Just looking for an outlet, so I don't overburden my H.

Okay, I'm blabbing.  I just really wanted to say, Hello! and to wish us all success in whatever our plans and  wherever our paths lead us.

Don't worry, I'm working on it.

  • Welcome! I am sorry for your loss.  I know what you mean about yearning for something I didn't know I wanted. I hope your stay to be a short one. Good luck.

  • Welcome .... wishing you all the best in this journey!!

I go to Resolve monthly support meetings and have found them beyond helpful. You quickly learn you are not alone and have an instant connection with so many who attend.  Can I ask where you live and if you are able to attend any local Resolve support meetings?
