We are 99.5% set on the name Susannah if we have a girl, but we are still trying to work out a few kinks and I could use some advice/ideas...
First of all - Susanna vs. Susannah. I think the "h" at the end is lovely, sweet and feminine, but I worry about it blending in with our last name which also starts with an H. Is this an issue I should even worry about since the name is pronounced the same regardless of the H? Susanna is precious but seems unfinished to me though as I type this I notice that The Bump spell check considers Susannah to be misspelled and Susanna to be correct.
The middle name is also a bit of a problem. Ideally I would love to use a family name but DH and I have a very limited pool of female names to choose from on both of our sides (Joyce, Phyllis, Bonnie, Liberty, Ann, Mary). Ann is a family name for both of us so would be our first choice but I obviously can't use Susannah Ann so we are sticking that one in our back pocket for any future second daughters. My mother's MN is Joyce (nms) and I know I could use Joy but I just really don't like it... I have tried! We are leaning towards Susannah Mary, but I'm just not sure if that sounds okay. I am also somewhat considering some form of Maryann to kill two birds but I can't come up with anything that isn't a mouthful! Susannah Maryann? Thoughts? Then there's the whole initial issue. SMH apparently = so much hate? Am I over thinking this?
If we decide not to use a family name I really like Susannah Jane or Susannah Juliet. DH isn't fond of Juliet and has a guitar named Jane which is a whole other thing. Ahh. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
At least our boy name is set in stone. I think.

I think it is fine with or without the H. I would probably go no H for simplicity's sake, but either is fine.
My vote for MN is Joy, but that is my DD's MN, so I clearly like it more than you do. I think Joyce or Mary are good choices as well.
And I wouldn't give the initial thing another thought. Not a big deal at all.
