Pregnant after 35

Baby Heartbeat during labor

Hi ladies! I'm pregnant with #3, only 13 wks but already thinking about birth plans! With #2, born in 2010, I had an induction at 39 wks. His heartbeat was erratic and sort of scared me during labor. I was wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge with this. I know there are no guarantees, but I was going to see if maybe there was something I could do--like not be induced? that would maybe address it...

Re: Baby Heartbeat during labor

  • Thanks! I am leaning toward not getting induced this time. The first time I was sort of pressured into it because she was a week late. Second time the doctor wanted to induce because my daughter was big, and my dr was trying to keep my son at a more reasonable birth weight. Seems silly now because he turned out to be even bigger than my daughter at a week earlier! I am going to try to just let nature take its course this time around. Good luck with your pregnancy. How far along are you? Thanks again! :)

  • I wasn't induced with my daughter but was in labor for 3 long and exhausting days so by the end the was having heart decelerations.  I got the poop scared out of me when a second nurse came flying into my room to make sure everything was ok.  She had been monitoring my room from the nurses station.  Upon entering the world my daughter had to be checked out by the NICU team upon arrival but was cleared to stay with me while still in the room I delivered in.  No matter what way you slice it the act of being born is stressful on you and also the baby.  It's a crap shoot.

  • That sounds scary! :0 Sometimes I think the older and more mature I get the more freaked out I become! Oh for the blissful ignorance of my twenties, when I had my daughter. ..
