Babies: 0 - 3 Months

So much for that...

Took son to church this morning and left DD with DH.  She screamed the whole time I was gone.  I thought it was a good time to let her spend alone time with DH and for me to get some baby-free time, but after today I'm thinking not.  Anyone else have a super clingy baby?  I seriously have to hold her ALL DAY.  She hardly lets DH hold her without fussing.  Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered.  But my arms feel like mush by the end of the day.
Sidenote:  I've ordered the Moby wrap.  I'm praying it works when it finally gets here!

  • The first time I left DD with DH it was an epic fail and she screamed the whole time but it's slowly gotten better and better. I thought I would never be able to leave her but now DH stays with her with no problems! Don't worry, your LO will get used to it!

  • Keep trying. It could have just been a bad day or a bad week. Does DH hold LO much when you are home? I always think babies can tell if your uncomfortable. My kids always cried with my SIL because she never had her own kids and would almost be stiff holding them.

  • I think babies can definitely tell when someone is uncomfortable with them.  Angry, nervous, etc..  Keep trying.  My first was Super clingy.  Jake is a little better.  Once DH gets home, I make him hold him and feed him as long as possible.  Some days we don't do so good.  Jake still prefers me, but DH can handle him for a few hours now.
  • He needs to figure out how to sooth her. Make sure he holds her when you're at home too.

  • I agree with PPs, your husband just needs to learn the tricks on his own. Just give him time and practice!

  • My baby is super clingy too. I hold her nearly all day (putting her in the ergo is so helpful!). When dh is home he tries to give me a break but once she starts up fussing, nothing really calms her until I take her back. I try to give them time together, and dh doesn't give up, but he tries everything and when there's nothing left and shes screaming, I take her back. Usually she calms down and goes right to sleep. It's really hard and it wasn't always like this. She's 8 weeks today and she's been doing this since around 4 or 5 weeks. I have no advice, but just wanted to share that I feel your pain.
