I have bought a couple gender specific onesies and clothes from thrift stores and we are team green. They were too cute to pass up. All in I spent under $20 and either way I can't use half of it but I can just donate it or give to friends who are due the same time as me.
I thought that was crazy of me.
Haha nope. You've officially been (very) upstaged.
In defense of all the hate coming my way, I have not bought a single thing new for this baby. Everything has been either garage sale or craiglist finds. I am honestly hurt that I got nothing but criticism from the people I thought would understand and share my enthusiasm. We aren't rich by any means, and won't be wasting money on elective ultrasounds. I will, however, be donating my duplicates to a local crisis pregnancy center once the gender is determined. I'm sorry that so many of you find me ridiculous.
I wouldn't describe the reaction to your post as being "hateful", more as "snarky confusion". I would hope you wouldn't take it to heart that posters are finding it rather hard to understand why you would run out and buy (used or not, you still spent $$$ on these items) multiples of items that don't require multiples, whether you know the gender or not. As much as I applaud your charitableness for donating these items you eventually deem unnecessary once you know the gender you still wasted money, a great deal of it actually. You just as easily could have spent the $50-100 on the elective U/S and found out the gender and then narrowed down your purchases to the ones that suit your gender specific tastes. The large ticket items you purchased still cost hundreds of dollars used or not, were not talking about buying a couple of outfits in both blue and pink, you purchased TWO CRIBS! And I am still baffled about what makes a crib, a stroller or a swing exclusively gender specific and why you need them to be that way despite the gender? I understand and empathize with your enthusiasm, I just don't understand your rationale?
Re: Still not sure...
