Triple stroller?

So, we found out we're having twins ! Currently 8w2d. I also have a son who will be 2 on February. I've been thinking about the stroller situation, for those who have a toddler and multiples, do you have a triple stroller to accommodate them all or just a single and a double? DH thinks it's crazy I'm thinking I want a triple stroller.

Re: Triple stroller?

  • I plan on wearing one twin and my DS, who wont quite be two when they are born, will ride with the other twin. And if I don't want to wear a twin my kids can walk. They are like little ducks all in a row.
  • First off congrats! Next to answer your question. I vote for avoiding a triple stroller resell is near impossible and they are really large unless your having triplets it's pointless. You have lots and lot of options a Joey seat that attaches or a glider board also a good choice. We too have a older child and twin boys that will be here in 3 days and we went with the glider board that worked with both the double strollers we have ( google search are tons of 3rd attachment seat options will pop up) and if we are going some place like an Disney or whatever we would just load his old stroller and take the double as well. Also if you scroll back threw the board this question gets asked all the time so if you don't get a response that works chances are someone in the past had a solution you may find more fitting. Hope that helps some!!

  • Thank you. This new bump format irritates me, so I have been avoiding it. I'll have to see if I can figure it out and go look at other responses.

  • My older son was 28 months when my twins were born. He walks most places we go with all three kids (like walks to the park or the zoo). We bought a new BOB Duallie and when he doesn't want to walk he sits on the front of the stroller in the foot rest area. The pre-2010(?) models do not have the same foot well design. I like not having to deal with an extra attachment like a ride-on board or jump seat. The babies are 10 months now and it's still a great solution for our family.

When the babies were very young I would bring a carrier along just in case we needed to wear a baby and strap our old son into a seat, but this happened less than a handful of times.

  • Look at the Valco with Joey seat. It is what we have for our trio. And that is not correct resale I have seen and have sold of triple strollers was not hard and to buy used they go quick. With Valco it is a twin with Joey makes it triple and it fits any standard ADA door

  • I have the City Select with the Englacha Junior X-rider and its been working great.

  • So far we've been fine with a double. I wear one baby (I have both an Ergo and Moby) though sometimes I don't have to. DD is barely 2 but sometimes is okay walking alongside the stroller for short periods of time.

My fireball twins will be 2y4m when #5 gets here and I am on the go without DH a LOT so I need something to wrangle the little ones in without being fearful of one of them running out in front of a car in a parking lot, etc..
I found a Joovy Big Caboose on craigslist for half of the new price. It's a double tandem with a 3rd sit-n-stand platform on the back.  I bought it from a MoM with the scenario like yours, had a 2 yr old and then twins and she said it was a lifesaver for her, as well.
I can't imagine using this thing for more than errands as it is a basic frame with hard tires, so no jogging, etc. Great for narrow store aisles, day care drop off, etc.
(Joovy also sells a converter seat that will adapt the jump seat to a full 5 pt harness forward facing seat, which I may end up going with so the twins don't fight over the jump seat.)
This stroller comes with 2 semi-universal infant carrier adapters and 2 trays.
It's very long for a tandem, but it appears to be the shortest wheel base for a triple tandem.
I drive a Toyota Sienna minivan and it's a tight fit in the trunk, but if you find the just-so angle to load it, it will fit. I can't imagine it fitting in a sedan or small SUV.
I wouldn't pay full price for it, though.
