Sewing machine recs

Hi ladies! I'm just needing some recommendations for a new sewing machine. Nothing too fancy or expensive. Something that is easy to use for pretty simple projects. I think my budget would be $150. TIA!

Re: Sewing machine recs

  • I have a Singer. I really like the brand. My model is overkill (computer program embroidery), but it was free :D I know a lot of people also like Brother, so that might also be worth exploring. You could also check with any local quilting shop / dealers, they sometimes take used machines in on trade, and resell. Also, think of the projects you might want to do, the bargan models don't handle heavier fabrics well.

  • Thanks ladies. We do have a local quit shop that I hadn't even thought about going into to ask for advice!

you'll get the biggest bang for your buck with a kenmore.  I sew A LOT and I LOVE my kenmore.

I should add that kenmore are Jenome machines rebadged as kenmores. Jenome is a great sewing machine brand.
