C-sections

Exercise post section

I had an unplanned c-section 5 weeks ago.  I see my doctor next week and I expect I'll be given the go-ahead to start exercising.  So far I've just been walking with the stroller, nothing vigorous.  What exercises did you start with to get yourself back into shape?  I have a stationary bike so I was thinking of adding that next.  I have about 5 pounds left to lose from this pregnancy and another 20 to lose from my first pregnancy.

  • I started slow- talking walks was what I did for a couple months while I adjusted.

    Then slowly got back into running and elliptical and biking.

    Just take it slow and listen to your body- don't rush.
  • I took a Pilates class once my doctor gave the ok and it was a huge help tightening everything back up again.

  • I started with some of the pregnancy DVDs I had been doing before baby was born...figured they were a little easier/slower pace, so would be good for first getting back into exercise post-baby.  Then moved onto some stationary biking and walking at the gym, plus some harder DVDs at home.  Took a few weeks to feel comfortable working out, but I was able to get back to spinning and some light jogging after not too long.
