Pregnant after IF

FET with day 6 blasts anyone?

Hey ladies,
Congrats to you all!
Hoping to join you soon-

Lurking from IFV and TPR boards looking for anyone who has had success in a similar situation.

Our last cycle was a DE and DS fresh IVF cycle.
We transferred 2 very high quality embryos on day 3...BFFN

We will be transferring the 2 blasts that were frozen on day 6 from the same cycle. One is graded a B expanded blast and the other is graded an A early blast.

I asked my RE if he was concerned given they were frozen on day 6, he said he wasn't and felt they were very good quality.

I'm just concerned because I haven't noticed any success stories from a FET with a day 6 blast...

Thanks in advance!!!

Me (32) DOR, elevated NK Cells/ 2 copies of MTHFR mutation/ MH (35) azoo/high DFI   (TTC#1 since 2009)

IVFs#1-4: (4/10-2/12) all BFN

Surprise Bfp (9/11) - c/p

DS IUI#1-2 (9/12, 10/12) - BFN

DS IVF: (11/12) - BFN

DE/DS IVF#1: (10/13) - 2 day 3 embies transferred-BFFN

FET of 2 day 6 blasts: (12/13) - c/p

DE/DS IVF #2: (4/14) - 1 day 5 blast transferred...BFFN...again.

FET 5/14: 1 day 5 hatching blast transferred...another BFFN

Repeat SHG 6/14-normal / Endometrial Receptivity Array biopsy 7/14-Receptive Uterus

New RE, additional testing reveals elevated NK Cells

FET of 1 day 5 blast (RE recommends transferring 1 due to elevated NK cells) with lovenox, steroids & intralipids in October

Re: FET with day 6 blasts anyone?

  • I think our currently cooking bean and our remaining fro' 'bros are all day 6s. I know we had 1 day 5 in there somewhere but I don't remember which one it was. We picked them based on grading, not based on their length of time to become that grade.

If they are of high quality my clinic says there isn't much of a difference.

    Hope that eases your mind.

  • Mine in there cooking right now is a day 6 frozen blast. Our first 2 were 2 fresh 5 day blasts and only one took. I miscarried at 7 weeks. This time both 6 day blasts from FET took, but one lost at 8 weeks and currently 23 weeks with the other.

  • Mine cooking in there is a 6 day blast that hatched the morning of the thaw and was transferred by itself.  24 weeks and 2 days. My first FET (chemical pregnancy) was a 5 day embryo.  Good luck!  I wouldn't worry about it being a 6 day embryo if it is a good quality embryo.

I currently have 15 frosties and a bun in the oven....ALL were/are frozen 6-day blasts.  My clinic only freezes on day 6.  They feel that their lab is better than an actual uterus to that point (crazy, right?!?), so it's standard for all IVF patients (unless, of course, there's a reason they need to do it sooner).  The one that's currently cooking was a 6-day 6BA, already hatched, and we only transferred the one.  I'm 99% sure it snuggled in right away since it was already hatched, because I felt cramping about 24 hours after my FET.  GL!

Edit: I just wanted to comment on your note about not seeing any success with 6-day blasts...My clinic is not only top in NJ, but also the country, and they ONLY do 6-day transfers, and their FET success rates are even better than their fresh ET rates.  So don't worry about that!  My doc actually said that he would make everyone freeze and do FETs if he could because the success is so much better.  That's all :-)
