My friend needs some advice and her internet isn't up so she can't come here to ask herself. She fostered an 11YO girl for a few months, her parents surrendered rights and she adopted the girl. Things were pretty good for a few months other than normal 11YO type stuff then they moved across the country for a job opportunity. Since the move the girl has done a 180. She is violent, has elbowed my pregnant friend in the stomach, harms herself, tells hospital workers my friend is abusing her (I 100% believe friend is not), runs away and is just making my friend's life a nightmare. Girl needs residential treatment but friend can't afford private and the wait for a state one is about 6 months. She admits girl to the hospital each time she throws a fit (violence towards friend and herself) but is released in a few days. Friend has no idea what to do, she does not want to give her back and was told even if she did she would lose her other kids. Any advice I can pass on?
^ Your friend should speak with the student assistance counselor at the school the child is attending for assistance with referral for a residential treatment facility.
She needs to contact the State agency that placed the child with them and ask for post adoption services. It does not matter that they now live in a different state if their state has post adopt services they should pay for it. She also should still have medicaid that will cover some if not all counseling costs.
The girl is in juvie now for attacking my friend and saying she wanted to kill her baby ( friends unborn child.) She didn't want to press charges but police did. Hoping this is a wake-up call.
