Vaginal Adhesion- still

DD is 19 months and she had a vaginal adhesion, meaning the opening to her vag was fused shut.  The doctor monitored this since she was born but decided to give us some estrogen cream to open it up due to the fact that she was getting multple UTI's.   The cream did work, took about 2 weeks. This was back when she was about 16 months.   Anyway, the doctor said I could stop when it opened up, but to put some vaseline on it indefinitely.     Silly me... did it for a while but then kinda faded it out and stopped. (i know stupid)  This morning I happened to look and it looks like it's closing again.      I'm going to start with the estrogen cream again... but is anybody dealing with this still?  I know I posted something about it a few months back and a few of you did say you've experienced the same thing.

  • My daughter has it too.  I stopped putting the cream on because it was irritating her.  I haven't been doing anything to it and the doctor said I should keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't close completely.

  • I didn't realize this even existed or how common it was until I had dd. I guess I'll just continue with the cream until it reopens. I just would hate to think she may have to deal with this her whole life?

  • DD has an adhesion also. At her 12mo appointment it was adhered a tiny bit at the bottom and had been that way for awhile. Her ped said we could probably consider that her "normal" for now since it doesn't appear to be getting any worse and just leave it alone. I check on it every once in awhile to make sure it looks the same. She said it should clear up completely when DD starts to produce her own estrogen, which I think she said was around 2yrs.
