We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm. 8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy. We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET. I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.
11/14/14 - Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.
12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2
12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)
1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2
****All Welcome!****
We are Mommas to four fur babies - 3 dogs and 1 cat.
Z and I spend a lot of time in downtown Austin on the weekends - running, brunching, and taking Bama to the park. I'm looking forward to taking him on walks (and eventually runs) on the trail and hanging out with Bama at the park. We have a pretty mild winter here, so I think there will be plenty of pleasant days to get out with him in the first few months. Really looking forward to it, actually!
If I were coming to Austin for a day and you were in charge of planning my day to give me a sense of the city, what would we do? (Include our meals! I'm a food person. Vegan is cool with me)

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.
Our IUIs with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.
Our IVFs: IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response
IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014 BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225) 2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. If I were coming to Austin for a day and you were in charge of planning my day to give me a sense of the city, what would we do? (Include our meals! I'm a food person. Vegan is cool with me)
Fun question! We're going to assume it's lovely weather - not too hot or cold.
Start the day with a run or walk at Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail.
Breakfast at Bouldin Creek Cafe (I would probably insist you have the Renedict or sweet potato tamales ). Bouldin is all vegetarian, with tons of vegan choices, and is quintessential Austin. Cross the street to get a sweet treat from Sugar Mama's.
Take a stroll down South Congress - stop at Jo's coffee and take a pic at the "I love you so much" wall.
Rent kayaks, canoes, or paddle boards and spend some time on Lake Austin.
Lunch at Taco Deli (my favorite tacos in town), Steeping Room (a lesbian owned tea room with the best Buddha bowl), or Mother's Cafe (another all veg place). Or, maybe all three.
Maybe a take a tour of the Capitol if you're into to that kind of thing or hike up Mount Bonnell (because apparently we have limitless energy on this day).
Nap.
Stop by Capital City Bakery, the MOST AMAZING vegan bakery (really, just the most amazing bakery, period). And, Amy's Ice Cream (not vegan). We've done a lot of activity today, so we deserve it!
See the bats from one of the cruises on Lake Austin (Austin has the largest urban-colony of Mexican free-tailed bats). They primarily live underneath the South Congress bridge and are a sight to see!
Dinner - either take it easy and go eat the best vegan bacon cheeseburger in the world from Arlo's, which is a food truck parked in the patio area Cheer Up Charlies, a lesbian owned bar, and hang out with the hipsters. Or, get all fancy and break out the credit card to eat at Uchiko, which is where I quite possibly had the best meal of my entire life (when I still ate fish).
I'm a grandma, so I'd be heading to bed right about now, but there are plenty of places to get a cocktail or listen to lives music in the wee hours of the night. I've just forgotten about all of them because it's been a while.
Do you have any nieces or nephews, or will this be the first baby in your family?
My brother and SIL have four kiddos! Ages 8 (boy), 6 (boy), 2 (boy), and 6 months (girl). I have a stepbrother from my stepdad's side whose daughter is 9 and a stepbrother on my stepmother's side whose daughter is 8. Even though our little one will be the 6th grandchild on both sides of the family, my mom has talked about how different it is for her daughter (rather than DIL) to be pregnant. She's just tickled to death and is so excited. She's been writing letters to our little boy ever since I told her I was pregnant (around 6 weeks). It's really special. And, I really appreciate that I haven't felt like this baby is old hat to my parents.

Did you propose to Z or did she propose to you? Tell us about it!
Aw, we don't really have a romantic story, but I'll tell it.
So, we knew we wanted to have a baby and we knew we wanted to get married. Originally, we thought we would have baby first, then get married (mostly because I was really ready to have a baby already). But, the more I thought about having a baby, the more I realized that I wanted to get married first. The closer we got to creating a family, the more I realized what getting married meant - not only would it be a commitment to each other, it would be a commitment to our family that we would one day create. I wanted to be able to share with our future children the memories of our wedding and that was the day we publicly and officially made a commitment to creating our family for them.
Soooo, then my mom and stepdad told us that they would help us out with the cost of the wedding, so it pretty much decided that we would have a wedding. We went to the ring store, picked out rings, and voila - we were engaged!
It's not a romantic proposal story, but I still love it - because it's a story of two women in love, who knew we were fully committed to each other, making a decision together to publicly share our love and commitment to each other with all of our closest family and friends.
How much have you missed running while you have been pregnant? Are you already planning your training for when you start running again after LO is here?
Baby Hayden Frances born 12/20/14 at 11:11 a.m... Our perfect little miracle. Here's how we got here:

How much have you missed running while you have been pregnant? Are you already planning your training for when you start running again after LO is here?
I have really missed running! My last race was my marathon in December 2011! We were married in February 2012 and then we started TTC in March 2012. I kept running while TTC and picked it back up after our loss in August 2012, but I haven't trained for a race since the marathon. I love having a goal, pushing myself, and the sense of accomplishment after completing a race. Plus, I train with the most AMAZING group of men and women. Our speeds and ability vary greatly. Some of the guys run 3 hour marathons and some of the women run 5+ hour marathons, but everyone is so incredibly supportive of each other and celebrates each other's successes and accomplishments. We've also been there for each other through break-ups, job losses, baby losses - you name it. I still see my running buddies, but I miss the camaraderie (i.e. therapy session) of our Saturday morning long runs and mid-week training runs. One of the people we run with said it like this - in daily life, we're talking about running, but when we're running, we're talking about life.
I do want to pick it back up once baby gets here, but I haven't quite figured out what that is going to look like yet. It's important to both me and Z, so I know that we will be good at taking turns - and eventually, LO will be old enough (and have enough neck control!) to take along in the running stroller. I would LOVE to complete another marathon in between this baby and #2, but we'll see how that goes.
I think it is encouraging to me that we have running friends who have young children (but not infants), so even though it may be tough while LO is itty bitty, I know that I'll be able to build it back into my routine eventually. It's definitely something I want to continue in my life and I want to model physical activity for our LO.
You have such beautiful grey hair - at what point did you start going grey/let yourself go grey?
Thank you! I first started getting grey hairs when I was about 16 or 17. I had mini-streak by the time I was in college. I have never colored my hair, and I just get greyer by the day! I love my grey hair - it never felt like a sign of getting older because I was so young when I started getting it. My mom has the most beautiful grey hair and she started with the same streak that I have, but she was in her 30's before she had it. She never colored her hair either, so I guess I had a good role model. I think I would feel naked without it.
Although, it is a little scary when I see grey hair in my eyebrows! Every once in a while, one will pop up on both sides! If my eyebrows go grey prematurely, I will have to color them!
Z does admit to me now that she was taken aback when she first met me - thought I had missed an appointment or two at the salon.
You have such beautiful grey hair - at what point did you start going grey/let yourself go grey?
I wanted to ask the same thing! I am totally jealous of it. My hair is dark brown and just in the last year I have started pulling grey hairs out of it (I'm 35). It's not enough yet to be worth dyeing, but it DOES make me feel old...probably because I've struggled a little with turning 35, especially with the whole TTC thing (and I do credit TTC stress with my sudden onslaught of grey hairs). Also, it is wavy/curly and I think when it is grey it is just going to look fuzzy. In other words, I don't think the transition will be kind to me. I'll probably break down and dye it in a few years...just an excuse to "enhance" my natural color anyway. But if it looked like yours, I wouldn't!
Married my wife 8/2007 ~ TTC #1 since 7/2011 9 IUIs = 9 BFNs IVF October 2012: 22 eggs retrieved, 17 fertilized, 5 frozen ET #1: 1 blast = BFP; Blighted ovum discovered at 7w5d; D&E FET #1: 1 blast = BFP; Missed m/c discovered at 9w5d; D&E Karyotyping: normal ~ RPL Testing: normal ~ Hysteroscopy: normal FET #2: 1 blast transferred 10/25; BFP 10/31! @ball.and.chain - First of all, I'm just now noticing beta #2 in your siggy - lookin good! Second, I imagine I would have a totally different relationship with my grey if I were older when I started getting it. Z (also 35) is starting to get some and keeps telling me she is going to color it when it gets more obvious. And… she keeps joking that LO is going to come out with a grey streak. I guess we shall see!

Thanks! It was actually over 1600 but I stopped listening once I heard the 16. 1084 would have been even quadrupling so I passed with flying colors.
