IUD vs. Nuvaring

Hello ladies!
I currently have the Mirena IUD and i've had it for about two and a half years. I have always had pretty bad cramping with it, but no periods at all.  Occasionally I think I can feel it poking around if I sit or lay down or even walking. I'm just tired of it.
I can't be on the pill because it gave me papilledema.
I've been thinking about changing to the Nuvaring. I don't know anyone personally using them so I thought I would ask on here.
You do you think about Nuvaring? Is it easy to insert and remove? Can you feel it throughout the day or during intercourse?

Re: IUD vs. Nuvaring

  • In addition to what @Joy2611 said, the mini pill (progestin-only) has a higher dosage of hormone than Mirena so symptoms can sometimes present stronger with the mini pill and Implanon than with the IUD. Unless you want to go with a barrier method, your other non-dual hormone options are Implanon and Paragard.
