Pregnant after IF

2 Follicles before IUI

I'm just wondering if anyone had 2 follicles when they triggered for IUI - and if you did - what was the outcome?  Twins/Singleton?  I will possibly have 2 follicles for this cycle, and I'm struggling with what to do.  We will have to take 6 months off after this cycle for other reasons, but I'm not sure I'm prepared for twins.  Any advice is appreciated!

Re: 2 Follicles before IUI

  • It's unfortunately not possible to predict the outcome! Our DS we had 3 mature follicles at trigger and he was a singleton. This time around we had what looked like 2 mature follies with one lagging behind and we're having triplets. Good luck with your decision!

  • I agree with rcnavywife - it's impossible to predict, especially based on just our board. I had 2 follicles for all of my IUIs (3 for one) and none of them ended up in any pregnancy.

Your best bet is to ask your RE what the stats are on a pregnancy, singletons, and multiples for someone in your position with your diagnosis. Best of luck this cycle!!

  • Your RE will probably be able to give you statistics, but at the end of the day, you're really pulling the chance card. For both my IUIs, I had 2 follicles. My first IUI didn't work, the 2nd was a singleton pregnancy. Good luck!

  • unfortunately, it's impossible to predict. An important factor is if you're MFI. We are. DS was from an IUI cycle. Everyone was shocked it worked. I had two mature follies and he was a singleton. Subsequent IUIs with 2-3 follies didn't work. We are now preggo with twins from FET. I would go for it, but we transferred two this time so I'm not opposed to twins.

  • Had 2 follicles with the IUI we conceived and pregnant with a singleton.  Also had another with 3 follicles and ended in a BFN.  During our IUIs we decided to go forward with up to 3 follicles, but it's a personal choice.

  • Thanks ladies!  I know it's impossible to predict - was just looking for other stories.  I'll ask the RE in the morning what he thinks the possibility of multiples would be.  Thanks for sharing with me!

  • Good luck! I always had 2 or 3 follicles for my IUIs and none stuck :(
Before each procedure, the RE went over the multiples risk with me tho. Definitely ask if they don't!
