Pregnant after IF

Introduction

Hi Everyone -
I can't believe I'm introducing myself on this board ... and am praying I am not jinxing myself by doing so.
It's been a rocky road - as I'm sure it has been for everyone on this board!
I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and was released to my OB yesterday.  I am trying desperately to balance feeling really excited with emotionally cautious about not being "out of the woods" of my 1st trimester.  I can't imagine I'm alone in trying to manage this emotional juggling act.
So far I've only told my parents, best friend, and boss (I had to tell her I was going through IVF as I was missing work/coming in late).  My in-laws keep asking my husband, but we've decided to wait until Thanksgiving (11 weeks) to tell them what's going on.  I would actually prefer to wait until after we do CVS (or Amnio depending on what we decide), but I'm not sure we can hold them off that long.
Anyway, just happy to be able to safely share this exciting news with women who have been through similar difficult IF experiences.
Any advice on what to expect with the switch over to an OB? I'm nervous I'm going to feel like I don't know what's going on since I'm used to being monitored SO often and closely...! :)
Happy to be here!

Re: Introduction

  • Congrats and welcome! My first visit with my OB they did an pap(since it had been almost a year), bloodwork, and a urine sample. Mine also did a sneak peak ultrasound, but only cause they weren't busy that day.

  • Congrats!!!!  Similar to pp, but without the pap. I just had a urine culture and bloodwork. They asked me a lot of questions about my IF history and then I had a quick ultrasound to make sure measurements were on track with my RE's last scan. It really is weird now only going once and month and NOT having ultrasounds all the time but I think I'm getting used to it :)

  • Welcome and congrats! Switching over to my ob was strange. I almost felt homesick, but it was probably also because I was used to being at my RE's all the time and found a new OB after I found out about the pregnancy. I felt very spoiled by my RE who treated me like I was her only patient, who did weekly ultrasounds, and who answered any and every (crazy) email I sent her way. But after my first appointment, it got a little easier. I confessed to my ob how I was sad to go from frequent appointments to once every 4 weeks and so she told me I could come every 3 if I wanted to. :)
