How did you meet DH / SO??

I'm curious to know how everyone met their special someone!

 

DH and I met on Match.Com  and we were never actually matched together.  Our settings would have never matched us.  My distance I was searching was 25 miles and he was about 30 from me and he had a similar setting.  One day I decided to just search around, and I found him and sent him a message.  I can't believe that something so simple as 5 miles could have kept us apart. He was actually the first person I met on Match.  I emailed a few others but DH was the only date I ever set up. I only used Match for one month!

He was the leading man and I was the leading lady in a performance. We fell in love within 10 minutes of meeting each other. We've been inseparable for 3 years.

I met my husband in college..I became really good friends with the girl across the hall. We wanted to go to a club downtown for my birthday to go dancing but wanted a guy with us. My friend suggested inviting her best friend who was also dating her younger sister...and he's now my husband.

match.com but it was before you had to pay for it so it was way different back then.  We were embarrassed at first to tell our families we met on the internet, people didn't really do that as much back then, so we said we met at a bar (sounds way better right!!).  Now we have to keep the lie up....when ever someone asks how we met DH comes up with a different story about the bar we met in, it's kind of funny and has become our little inside joke.  I wish we told the truth way back then but to be honest I wasn't looking for a husband at the time so I had no idea it would be a forever type thing

We live in a rather conservative area (even though it's a fairly large city)  it's very Christian around here.  I think people still cringe in this area and shy away from internet dating.  We could honestly care less but it's funny how some people react to us telling them we met online.

My then-BF introduced us at a get together of his friends. We were both seeing other people, but ended up volunteering for the same kid's outreach program in our city, and became really good friends. When we eventually broke up with each of our SOs that year, we started dating a few months later

Well one not so smart night 6 years ago I was driving (drunk- not smart I know!) to a friends house (I drove a 6" lifted Jeep wrangler at the time with the top off) and while driving down a residential street DH yelled at me "hey girl in the jeep!!" So I whipped around and came back and he literally jumped in front of my jeep in the street so I would stop! He was at a party, so being drunk already I stopped and decided to party along with them- lost my phone, let people drive my jeep around, took the doors off of it- needless to say it was a crazy night! I ended up staying the night and the next morning was like "what in the world did I do- I never want to see this guy again! " lol So I left and never expected to see him again esp since I lost my phone and didn't have his number anymore! About 5 days later I saw him again ( both of us sober this time!) and he asked if I wanted to go to a concert and I told him no and drove off! A couple days later I was out with a friend and something inside me wanted to hang out with him- I luckily had found my phone by this time (was in a park from that night?! Lol) so I called him up and he came out and we've been together ever since! He proposed to me 4 months later and then we got married 8 months later on our one year anniversary of being an official couple! Crazy story I know and I'm always a little embarrassed about telling people about the first time meeting him- I edited the drunk part and staying the night with him when I told my family!! We've been married for 5 years now! We say that we saved each other's lives and that God put us in each other's path for a reason- we were both spiraling out of control, he was basically an alcoholic and I was headed that way soon and now neither of us drink but maybe once every other month or so (well I don't at all now being PG!) so it was a blessing!

I met him on okcupid. He messages me to say "you seem kewl" and I deleted it rolling my eyes. I went on several really bad dates and actually got on to delete my account when he pmed me. He invited me over for beer and rock band. Free beer and my fave game so I did.
When we met each other we decided that we were SO not into eachother but that we were cool to be friends. So we started hanging out...everyday. 7months later he proposed. We have been married a little over 2 years, inseparable for 4.

We met in high school. I initially met him my sophomore year and thought he was a jerk. Senior year, we had some mutual friends and we started hanging out. We have been together ever since! We've been married for 3 years, but together for 15 years.

I had transferred colleges. My first week at the new school, I went to a bar with some friends, I saw this guy sitting on a barstool, who looked arrogant, he looked like he owned the place. I immediately thought he was a short guy who wanted to be tall. I insulted him( I've never ever done that before- or since). The next day a friend of mine and I were hanging out. She took me to her friend's house, and it was him. He was 6'6. He had this beautiful sand colored greyhound who was usually shy but came right up to me. I knew he couldn't be a bad guy with a dog like that- and I was right.

Yeah, now I think it is pretty common but when those websites were first coming out it was still thought of as kind of sketchy and desperate, at least in the circles I ran in.  I had just graduated college and moved to a city where I knew no one so for me it was a completely valid option, it seemed much smarter than going to random bars or clubs and hoping to run into someone you actually got along with.  My friends definitely judged me for dating online which made me self conscious about it, but jokes on them because they are all still single and I'm happily married with a baby on the way!  Now I know a lot of people who met online so I wish I had been more confident about my decisions way back then!

At work. We immediately liked each other and had that total connection that makes it so easy to hang out with someone. We were both married to other people, we were both miserable and in various stages of separating from our spouses, and sharing that (horrible, sad) experience with someone who was also going through it was very nice. About a year later we started seeing each other. We work in a corporate office so it was kind of a scandal at the time! Of course the gossip started anew when the pregnancy became apparent! (Though this is years later — we both still work at the same place.)

I was married only for 7 months in a horrible relationship ! Then I move to my sister house 5 hours away I need it to scape I was isolated afraid in the house doing nothing 6 months later we went to a Halloween party and my brother in law introduce me to his friend from Brazilian jj , he invited me to a movies I did't want so I say yes I want paranormal activity 3 he say yes and he ask for my phone number I never give my phone number to nobody but I did because my brother and ,then I regret and I told him like 5 times listen don't call me I have to fix my life please don't call me . SO HE TEXT ME THE NEXT DAY ,I am not calling you I am texting you .

In high school i was 14 and he was 16. He was the first boy i ever had the guts to introduce myself too. From that day on we were inseperable. i remember we would go to sleep on the phone together lol.

LOVE your story!

DH and I met in Freshman year in college, I used to hang out in his hall because I was friends with most the guys there.  I thought he was the biggest dirtbag because he was sleeping with a Junior, and she would walk out of him room to use the BOYS (yuck!) bathroom in his shirt or comforter.  I disliked him so much that when my friends would go to his room to party I would sit in the hallway and wait for them to be done.  Then one day I was in the quad and Ryan walked by and said, "Hey Katie, you look cute today.  Can I get your number so we can hang out?"  Seriously.  It was the first thing he had EVER said to me.  That is all it took.  It turns out he was a helpless romantic, and I had about 4 girls hate me because we started dating, including the Junior who he was.....so she would get him alcohol (classy, I know).

We also met in a bar. He had just come home from Afghanistan and was out with his friends celebrating and I was forced to go out with my friend who was in desperate need of a wingman and a cocktail. I told her the only way I would go out is if she met me at this one particular bar I like that was close by because I was not in the mood to go all out, balls to the wall. In fact, I didn't put makeup on and wore glasses to the bar. I really wasn't having it.  I immediately noticed him when I walked in. His friend hit on my friend, and as a good wingman I made friends with all the rest of his friends and this particular friend of his and I really hit it off. We closed down the bar, still wanted to continue hanging out and so we went to breakfast and we haven't gone a single day without talking since. Other than him being gone for Army stuff we've been completely inseperable. Aside from flirting in the bar, his friend and my friend never hung out or talked after that so obviously it was just fate intervening so we'd actually talk to eachother

We met at church. I was living in the city, and hadn't found a church I liked yet (to be honest I was in college and not really looking.) A friend invited me to a concert at his church about an hour south of me, hoping I'd like it and keep coming back. I met Aaron that night, and for him it was love at first sight. I thought he was a show off. But I lived the church and kept coming back, and as luck would have it college Bible study was at his house. And the rest is history.

His brother was my best friend in college. I hung out with the boys a lot; they were in the same fraternity. Those guys were my lifeline. Not just DH and his brother, but their "brothers." Anyway, BIL had a crush on me but was on the verge of graduating and moving. He waited until our wedding to tell me...and all of the guests. Lol. BIL invited me to visit him one weekend in his new town, and I asked DH to come with just so I could have a driving buddy. DH and I have been inseparable since. Dated 9 months, engaged less than a year, DD born just days before our first wedding anniversary, and here we are 11 years after that trip expecting baby #3. Still so in love with this wonderful man.
