Zantac users

LO has been on Zantac since Friday I don't think it's really helping except LO hasn't had an episode while sleeping so far. Well today she started shrieking when she eats again, arching her back and being a fussy crazy person. Has anyone experienced this regression?

She was doing so much better own her new goat milk formula. She had totally stopped screaming.

The dosing is on a range. Our Pedi always went smack dab in the middle but it wasn't working with DD1 so we gave her the most possible for her weight and it totally worked. Ask you Pedi if you can try that. My DH is a pharmacist so he worked the formula and we started doing it on our own one night after hrs when it was bad. We called the next day and told them and they sent in an Rx for more. It could be that Zantac doesn't work for her and you will need Prevacid.

Agree with luvmyducks. Zantac dosing can be tricky. Also, if the concern is MPI (milk protein intolerance) or an allergy, the goats milk formula might still be irritating your LO. Would you consider a trial of a formula like alimentum or nutramigen?

My DS was on Zantac starting at a few weeks of age. It helped but was not as good as Prevacid. Prevacid was a godsend for us, but our pedi won't prescribe for kids under 6 mos.

Another Prilosec and nutramigen user here.. made a WORLD of difference after 3 months of struggling with DS1.. with DS2, once we noticed him having the same issues we started him on the same combo and he's been wonderful.. similarly to zantac, dosing needs to be adjusted semi-often in order to keep up with their rapid weight gain.. I can always tell when it's time to increase the meds.. good luck!
