gymboree Play & Learn

Has anybody tried this?

I am taking DD to a free class this weekend just for something to do. I have never taken her to one before and i'm just wondering what to expect.

  • We tried it. It was a lot of fun. But, for the price, it wasn't worth it to us to continue.

  • Yes. The price does seem a bit wild doesn't it. I figured I would just do a one timer since they offer a free class. Gives me something to do! LoL

  • We have been doing it for almost six months, since DS was 12 months old. He loves it. It all really depends on the teacher. We have had a couple as we move up in age group or do make up classes. We LOVE our current one. She really teaches the kids stuff on the equipment (climbing, jumping, balance beam, summersaults, etc) where some of the teachers just let the child do what they want on the equipment.

Most kids are either very timid or crazy excited the first class they attend, so be prepared for either extreme.

My biggest hesitation is the price. Ours offers a free play time one afternoon per week where you can just show up and do whatever. I figure with the class and that we get to use it twice a week which makes it more reasonable.

We have the same experience.  I started taking DS when he was 4 months because I found that he was hard to entertain at home.  But now that he is older and keeps himself quite busy when we are at home, I see less need to go to the class; especially since I'm already paying a lot for DC.  That said, I probably will stick with it until the snow season is over since he can't go outside much these days.

Unfortunately all of the classes for our age group are during the week when working moms can't attend.

Yeah, this blows.  So many activities for kids are like that.
