Babies: 6 - 9 Months

So What's Next?

My DS is about 4 pounds away from the maximum on his Johnny Jump Up. He LOVES that freaking thing!!! I'm really sad he has almost outgrown it. But once he's too heavy, what do I put him in? Walkers aren't recommended & his stationary jumperoo doesn't keep his attention anymore. He wants to move/"walk" on his own.

Am I missing the obvious or just have to wait until he can actually walk?

  • DD prefers the floor to her activity seat.  We got a yoga type mat for one area in the living room (we don't have carpet) and then just let her roam the first floor.  We watch her near stairs and whenever she tries to pull up on anything.  I'm teaching her "no spaces" vs "yes spaces" and so far she's getting it - if she goes near the HVAC vents or tries to grab the curtains I say no sternly and she stops.  It's working for us and DD gets to be a lot more mobile.  But do what's best for you!!
  • Thank you :)

DS definitely gets a lot of floor time and is still rocking on hands and knees, but he prefers to stand and move over crawling. So I was hoping for something to keep him up on his feet. I guess he'll just have to work hard and get there!
  • There's always they trusty pack and play!
