Trying to Get Pregnant

How much is too much provera?

So I'm wondering if there is a limit on how much provera you can take. My first cycle after going off BCP was 76 days, cycle 2 lasted 86 days, and I'm currently on cd35 with no signs of ovulation still!

I'm hoping if I just wait it out, maybe I will O on my own, even if that takes 100+ days. Is that dangerous? I just don't want to keep taking meds...

Also, I'm wondering I need to wait a whole year before contacting an RE. I'm 29, but have not ovulated since April, so about 7 months. I don't want to go back to my current obgyn after all the clomid drama (see my old post under username LAL2793), so I don't really have anyone to talk to about this....
Thanks!

I don't suggest waiting over 60 days for your period...

Also, imo, if you've gone 7 months without a confirmed ovulation through temping, then I suggest seeing an RE prior to the 1 year mark. If you aren't ovulating, there is obviously some type of issue going on.

Edit- it is dangerous to go long periods of time without AF - your risk of cancer and several other nasty things increase, which is why it's recommended to seek medical intervention of some sort after 60 days.

  • Thank you. I'm going to start asking around to see about REs in the Atlanta area. I'm starting to get kinda worried!

  • I honestly don't know how much is too much because I have not had to take it yet... However, I'm on CD 40 with no end in sight either. I called my OB office and talked to the nurse (whom I know through a friend anyway) and she told me that if I still have nothing by CD 55 to call them and I would start Provera. She asked that I certainly not wait to call AFTER the 60 day mark. This is by far my longest cycle yet in 4 months off BC and pray it doesn't happen again. Good luck to you!
