Dropping morning nursing session?

So my mom is here watching E for the week. I have been nursing her twice a day for a couple ofmonths now. My mom suggested this would be a good time to drop the morning session. E (and my mom) can sleep in a little longer, and my mom can give her a sippy of milk when she wakes up.

I know I want to wean her before #2 comes along. But I'm sad to think of it... I will miss my morning snuggle session. WWYD?

Hahahaha oh well it is an issue that demands attention now! Lol

It was so hard to wean my LO, i loved nursing so much! And i still muss it a ton! So i guess if your trying for #2, (cant see your siggy, phone bump) then wean so you can, if your already pregnant, i say keep it up! Let LO wean on their own and just enjoy it!

Tough decision. I will tell you when I dropped my morning session - it became 7 million time easier to get out the door!

Sorry, I don't know how that came up as an announcement and I was having trouble unannouncing on mobile. I got it now though.

This is exactly what I'm thinking... How much easier and quicker I can get out the door without that extra 20 minutes. Plus, mh and I might be able to carpool.

That's a great idea... Just bc I don't nurse in the morning before work doesn't mean I can't on the weekends still. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. And if I try it this week and don't like it, we can go back to nursing next week, right?

Since I SAH, I obviously don't have the time crunch in the morning.  In my mind, I think the morning session will be the last I drop when we wean.  M is the calmest in the morning, and he gets most milk during that session.  I love the cuddle time with him as he's not fighting/clawing/scratching me the whole time.

I would only drop it because you think you and E are ready and it is the right time for you. Don't drop it because it is the right time for your mother. I will say that if you drop the morning session on some days you might be pretty uncomfortable I your body is still producing for the days you do nurse. GL with whatever you decide hon!

I'd keep doing the am session until you or E are ready to stop. I know my friend supplemented just a few morning feeds one week to be able to sleep in for a few days and then her LO refused the boob in the mornings after that. I know that's not true for everyone, but if you're going to try it out, just be prepared that she may not want to restart them even if you do.

I don't really have much advice as I stopped nursing cold turkey one day. But just wanted to say that I hope whatever you decide goes smoothly.

Thanks ladies. I think I'm going to try it tomorrow and see how it goes. I'd like to tandem @kaf7 but with the supply issues I had with E, I'd be terrified of starving the new babe. I don't even remember the last time I felt full, so it will be interesting to see if I even feel a difference. Thanks for all the support ladies, and I'll let you know how it goes.

And to those who mentioned it... I'm not doing this for my mom. I want to wean before deuce arrives, and thought it would be easier with mom here watching E than when I'm taking her to day care in the morning. We will see how tomorrow goes.

Actually, I've heard that tandem feeding can help drive supply, especially at the beginning. That would be something to consult LLL or a LC. Antidotally, I've heard that the toddler can help with engorgement, especially as your milk is coming in.  Just in case E really wants to nurse after deuce arrives, it might not be a bad thing or a requirement that you deny her.
