Babies on the Brain

I really really

Want to go to "Jingle Jams" this year. My 12 yo self is freaking out. The Backstreet Boys, Goo Goo Dolls, and Avril are playing. We just bought a new car and I cannot pull the trigger on expensive ass tickets. Why are concerts so expensive now?

What would you like to do, but it isn't in the cards?

  • I really really, to a distressing extent for someone in their 30s, want to go to Disneyworld and Harry Potter land or ville or whatever it is called.  I have never been to either, and can envision years and years passing post-spawn when it is not practical to go. DH and I are saving $1200-1500 a month between now and hopefully-eventual-birth as a spawn nest-egg (was that a pun?) and don't figure extra $$ will be there to live out my childhood fantasies of running around faux castles.

MW/OBX - hope you both get to go!  Maybe you'll both find a nice big bill in between the couch cushions?

  • I was obsessed with the Goo Goo Dolls when I was younger.  Johnny Rzeznik now looks like he's had one too many plastic surgeries, but I still wouldn't turn him down for a date.

  • The Harry Potter ride is AMAZING!!!!!  Even standing in line (for like 3 hours) was pretty cool, as you feel like you are hanging out at Hogwarts.  I would pass on Disney World though, I found Universal to be much more to my liking.  Now, if I was 5  . . . Disney all the way.

  • Oh dear - you are all REALLY only increasing my desire for faux castle twirling.  Maybe we will get a big tax return??  DH also just found out he was offered an after-school tutoring job (he's a teacher) so perhaps we will put those earnings straight into the HPF (Harry Potter fund).  Orrrrr maybe I should not spend his money for him, before he has earned it.  But seriously!

  • Man, I live in Central FL and still haven't gone to Universal since they opened Harry Potter. I really should do that.
  • I really need a vk...like a good nice exotic one!
  • I'll be able to afford Harry Potter world about the same time they open one in CA. I really want to go, but FL is freaking far away.

I want to buy an RV and do a cross country road trip to visit my favorite bumpies :)

  • This is lame but I really want new couches. Ours are hand me downs that match nothing, are stained, ripped and the cushions have lost shape. I'm embarrassed to have people over.

@kelle017  You should look at Macy's! We had crappy couches and I hated them.  The dog ripped a hole in them, etc.  We couldn't really afford nice new couches but ended up looking at Macy's...if you have a Macy's card they always offer 12 months with no interest--so you can get a pretty nice couch or sectional and split it into 12 reasonable payments.  Just a PSA because I love my couch now! Its held up really well with a toddler/breastmilk spilling on it/etc.

  • DH really wants new furniture (reclining sofa), the furniture we have now is a cheap set I bought when I was first living on my own and is looking less than stellar.  Now that we are looking at IVF #3 in January, I think that will continue to put that off.

For my birthday next month I asked DH for a new laptop case (I want something a little nicer looking and more stylish than the cheap case I currently use).  I feel like I should switch my present to a new coat, which is much more practical, since my coats from last year are a little tight after my 2 cycles of IVF weight gain.

  • @huskymomma94  I will have to look into Macy's as another option.  We were going to go to Art Van (they are a MIchigan chain).  They have sales every single week, and do financing options too, but I'd rather wait until we can pay cash.  We have about 1/3 of what I 'think' we will need.

@twinkie0612 I saw your post on ttgp but couldn't post from my phone (for some reason it doesn't keep me logged in and says my password is wrong every time).   I'm sorry about the c/p.  It sucks.
