Trouble TTC

2 days late, BFN, thoughts?

Hey ladies, so I'm 2 days late and I know that's not much, but I did my first round of clomid this month. (I've already gone through the monitoring talks and re) I took a pregnancy test yesterday morning and it was negative. Waiting until Tuesday to take another test. I've been feeling kind of different crampy, so not sure what's going on. I got a positive OPK test on Oct 16 & 17. Thoughts?

  • When is your beta?

I don't have a beta scheduled. My doc didn't want to see me until 3 months on clomid unless I get a bfp. She states it will take that long in a test to see the affect of it.

The general thought on any of these types of comments is that you a) would know what was going on if you were being monitored, as you likely will in any future cycles, and b) there's nothing any of us can know right now.  The waiting and hoping and disappointment cycles suck, I know.

It's entirely possible you didn't ovulate when you think you did.  Sometimes you gear up, but then for whatever reason, it doesn't happen.

Just keep waiting, take a test every few days or week or so, until you either get a BFP, your period shows up, or you hit 60 days of your cycle (at which point, call a doctor).

Thanks. The thoughts do help me. My mind has been racing. My doc doesn't want to monitor until after 3 months of treatment. I think I'll call the doc this week if nothing shows up to keep on track with the treatment.

  • Whoa Whoa Whoa - you are on clomid and your doc is only seeing you every 3 months?  BIG RED FLAG.  You could develop cysts, not ovulate.. etc.  I would find a NEW RE ASAP and get monitored.  Clomid is not something to mess around with and it's a waste if it isn't being used right.  Best of luck to you!

Say what now?  Did your doctor do any testing at all before giving you Clomid?   What she says is not true at all, and can hurt you in the long run.   The issue might not even be you, but your husband.

As far as your original question, 2 days late is very much in the normal range... unfortunately waiting is all that you can do.  It sucks, I know.

There are women on here who can tell you the horrors of unmonitored Clomid... please reconsider your doctor's advice.

Yes we did the bloodwork and ultrasound testing and she stated that I was a low risk of troubles so gave me instructions for every 3 months. I may call tomorrow to see what they say and ask about further monitoring. It would most likely ease my mind. She just wanted me to do OPKs and Preganacy test on my own.

    Thank you. Calling tomorrow
  • Ditto what the other ladies said. Also, Clomid can affect when you ovulate. I have a very regular cycle, but it was all out of wack on Clomid. You may not really have ovulate when you think you did. You're being smart to call your doctor and get proper monitoring next time around. Keep in mind there is a limited number of times you should take Clomid (maybe 4 or 6? I can't remember) so make them count!

  • I also did unmonitored Clomid not knowing any better.  The third cycle my OPK said I was ovulating but when my OB/GYN did blood work they said I actually did not O.  She said it is common to get a false reading so unfortunately the PP are right, it may or may not mean anything.  I would strongly advise going to an RE or at least a Dr who will more closely monitor you.
    Ba hahahaha!
