What are your thoughts on this name- pronounced Jay-go-- a variant of Jacbo meaning supplanter??? I'm looking for a boy's name and struggling to say the least.
I don't dislike it. I used to take ballet classes occasionally from a woman with the last name Jago so I'm familiar with it. I've never seen the Jaego spelling though. You might be interested in Iago too- a Welsh version of Jacob, but more familiar to English speakers through Othello (and Aladdin!).
I like it. I like names that end in O (Hugo is on our list, and Jago isn't a far cry from that). I would spell it Jago; it's simple and direct, and the name is pretty easy to learn. I also like PP suggestion of Iago, but the Shakespeare and/or Aladdin association might be a deterrent to you.
