Recommend Craft Toys for 2 year old

We will have a newborn and 2 year old this winter and I am looking for fun crafts that will keep my 2 year old busy for a little while at the kitchen table.  Are there any craft toys that your child loved at this age?  TIA!

  • Thank you!!  Wow, our daughters seem to like exactly the same toys!  They'd be BFF's!  :)

  • We've had good luck with the Crayola Mess Free art supplies, sticker books, Play-Doh is also a hit in our house.
  • The Crayola Color Wonder line is great because it's mess free. My two like to color, and i can usually trust them with crayons and coloring books/paper as long as the 2yo is buckled into her booster and can't get loose with the crayons ;) They also LOVE play doh. They'd play with it all day if I'd let them, and the nice thing about play doh is there are so many different accessories you can get to keep it exciting. We have cookie cutters, scissors, rolling pins, letter and number stampers, a few Disney Princess stampers/cutters. I think for Christmas we might get them a larger set, like the ice cream shop or something along those lines.

  • Another vote for the color wonder.  We have the markers and the finger paint.

Mine also loves chalk - we have a tub of sidewalk chalk he plays with outside.

He doesn't have any playdough yet, although he plays with it at school.  At home he has the Crayola air-dry clay.

Stickers and sticker books are really popular in my house too. Melissa and Doug has a reuseable sticker book he really likes.

  • My daughter isn't a fan of the color wonder stuff. Actually she loves the marker caps to put on her fingers---so we threw the markers away and kept the caps.

She LOVES play-doh. She also loves watercolor paints. She can easily spend a good 30 minutes at the table painting. Stickers, sticker books.

    We have this:

It is one of her absolute favorite toys--best 10 dollars ever spent. It is small enough to bring to restaurants, and to clean it we just use a paper towel and a little water.

  • Go to Michaels and get a tub of those sticky foam cut outs that are with the seasonal items (about $4) and some construction paper and she'll be set for DAYS. My dd loves to peel off the back paper and stuck the foam shape on her paper and color it too. One tub has lasted me the entire month of October so it's pretty cheap to do.

  • My DD was about 19.5 months when DS was born so I can relate.  She loves play-doh but that is not really something she could play with by herself.  She would color with crayons a bit.  I would definitely say she loved sticker books and those foam stickers.  Those will work for ages.  Also, going to the library frequently and picking out new books for her to read at home helped.  And we definitely watched our share of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the movie Tangled.  Good luck!
