On Wednesday, after trying to contact our BM unsuccessfully for a week, she finally responded to us with a text telling us that she had the baby, her phone was shut off so she couldn't contact us, so she decided to keep the baby. Of course, this was incredibly disappointing. After all we had gone through, she didn't even attempt to contact us. If she legitimately, honestly kept the baby out of love for it, I would have totally understood. But we know this is not the case. She was trying to scam us. She asked for money constantly and when we weren't willing to pay her bills or told her we legally couldn't, she decided to move on. My husband prepared me for this, so I am pretty stable. It breaks my heart to know that she was using her unborn child to get money from people. Oh, and there was no other family that was unable to adopt due to health issues. She had another family and they weren't willing to fund her life, so she did the same thing to them. The friend who had connected us with her was able to get that information out of the BM afterward. We are heartbroken, but we are still dedicated to growing our family. We will complete our home study this Wednesday and then try to adopt out of the foster care system.
