How Active Is Your Baby?

I'm 22w2d and our baby girl is quite the gymnast! I decided to finally use my kick counter app and it only took 11 minutes for me to feel 10 kicks!

She's been like this allll day! Usually at least one kick every 5-10 minutes. I don't think this girl sleeps! (3 kicks just while typing this post)

Re: How Active Is Your Baby?

  • Not that active! There are definite times when baby is asleep, but when she is kicking its fairly constant.

  • This kiddo is a night owl. I feel her a lot from about 9 pm til I fall asleep but not much the rest of the day. I'm probably just too distracted to notice as her kicks aren't super hard right now

Very active in spurts, though Sharkie typically let's me sleep at night.

    Edit: 22wks6d

I hear its fairly common that they keep the same pattern after coming outside. Any STM opinion on this?

  • This one is pretty active-a lot more than I remember DD being at this stage.  He has days that are more active than others.

  • I think she sleeps while I'm at work. I never feel her there (I have to be standing the entire time, walking around). But I've had the day off and decided to be lazy in bed. She must sleep while I'm up and stay awake while I'm resting. This past week has just been triple what I felt before.

  • Pretty darn active!  There are quiet times for sure, but once the baby starts moving it goes crazy.  Today I could definitely feel rolling, which is a first this pregnancy.

My two were both night owls, in the womb and out :)

  • Very active..sometimes I giggle to myself when she moves. I keep wondering if people are going to notice and think I am crazy.

I had heard that as a FTM too but it wasn't true with my son at all. When I was pregnant he kicked and wiggled from the time I went to bed through the middle of the night. He was always most active around 2 or 3 AM. Once he was born, he started sleeping through the night (11-13 hours straight) at 10 weeks. I am super lucky because even when he is sick or teething he still sleeps all night (just naps crappy). Even as a newborn when he would wake up during the night, he fell back asleep right after eating. I'm praying my second is the same way but I'm sure he won't be!

She moves the most at night. When I'm laying down and talking to her, I can feel some light kicks, but if DH starts talking to her she kicks HARD and frequently. Pretty sure she likes him more lol.

Mine does the same! I hardly can feel her from the outside, but as soon as DH puts his hand on my stomach, she moves like crazy.

But she's been really active the last couple days. It's usually once in the morning and some time at night (before we go to bed) and I feel very little movement during the day.

She's actually been kicking pretty hard for the last 30 minutes or so!

DD was quite active and squirmy in the evenings and through the night. I woke up frequently because of her.
After she was born she slept through the night at 6 weeks and was a quiet baby. Although she would cluster feed from 5-8pm.

DS was squirmy and active mostly at my bed time, but didn't wake me much in the night. .
After he was born, he did not sleep through the night until 8 months, and he stays up til 9 or 10 pm every night.

I don't really agree that what happens inside is what will happen outside.
I think most of us feel most movement when we are quiet and relaxed. And people with busy, active jobs, on their feet all day, may feel baby less while up and about, and more when winding down for bed.
  • I just started being able to feel her, but she seems to be active in spurts. I feel her most clearly in the first half of the day when I'm sitting at my desk.

  • Extremely! I'm a ftm and felt her all the way back at 10 weeks, then at 15 weeks it was all day long and still is. I did the kick counter and was up to 30 in a hour or so. Can't wait to chase her around.

  • She is very active all the time. I love feeling her move around, but luckily I am able to sleep at night.

I read that they move in their sleep, so just because you feel them doesn't mean they're awake.

  • Mine is active/I can feel her first thing I'm the morning. I keep telling my husband that if this behavior continues after birth she will be HIS problem until I wake up. He is the morning person in this family and if she is his mini-me she will get to spend quality time with Daddy while mommy sleeps! ;-)
  • My little one is. She wakes up at 530am every morning and kicks and pushes. Mostly moves after I eat or drink, especially sugary things.

    ~*DUE MARCH 5th 2014*~

  • My little girl is very active. It gets worse if I put my hand on my belly.
  • Wow you guys have some active little ones I am 21 weeks tomorrow and my little man flips and kicks in sports I am afraid to use my kick counter yet because I don't want to get paranoid! Because of my past I am a very paranoid mommy! But I love to feel him move I wish he would move when hubby puts his hands on my belly but he is being shy so far.
  • Mine is active mainly between 9am and 11am, 8 pm - 10 pm, and then again 430 am until 6 am.

  • Mine is very active.  I even saw a few of his kicks last night and they were all over the place.  I'm 21 weeks.
  • Mine is not that active at all. Maybe it's the anterior placenta, but I feel kicks maybe once a day. He's been laying in the same spot for a few weeks now. Must just be comfortable.dd was crazy active, still is and high maintenance. Hoping this one is more of a chill little man.

  • This LO is very quiet most of the time. He is usually the most active after 8 pm. I feel random kicks throughout the day, if I've been sitting long enough.

  • I can mostly feel her after I get home from work unless. There are times when I feel her during the day but its usually if one of my kiddos at school has a meltdown and starts yelling :) I think she has established a definite sleeping pattern!

  • Always active for about 20 minutes after I eat and then there must be a little party going on right before bed.
  • I'm almost 23wks and our little guys definitely has cycles. I haven't felt him at night, but I'm a pretty solid sleeper. If I'm not at work I feel him a bunch around 9am, then usually in the mid afternoon and late evening no matter what I'm doing. He went crazy yesterday and I finally saw him move my belly :) And usually it feels like he's using arms AND legs when he's going at it.

  • Like, not at all. I have an AP so it's normal. I've only really felt a few random movements here and there. We got lucky one night though, and DH got to feel one of the randoms!

  • I can definitely feel her push on my hand when it's on my belly and see my belly move too. It's just so crazy I could barely feel anything a week ago, now it's hard and constant.

  • I'm 19 weeks and THINK I'm finally feeling the baby.  Hopefully it will become more noticeable and irrefutable soon as I'm getting anxious.  I was 5 to 10 pounds overweight before getting pregnant so wondering if that has to do with not feeling the baby yet.  Also I'm a FTM so not sure what is what just yet.  Going for our anatomy scan ultrasound in a few days so hopefully we will be told everything looks ok.
  • Usually very active, but there are quiet days, too.  When she does kick, it comes and goes in spurts (several minutes (up to an hour) of activity followed by a few hours of silence).  I'm starting to sense a pattern to it, though.

  • Insane. It never stops moving. I thought my first was active and it doesn't even compare. It's visible from the outside too so I just sit there and watch my stomach jump around.

It's funny b/c this baby reacts to the slightest poke or pressure. So my H and I laugh that it's already temperamental and hitting back.
  • During the day/at work, I don't feel much of anything at this point. But when I lay in bed - especially on my back... I get some good movements.  I am so excited for it to become stronger and stronger :)

  • Late afternoon and evening.  Her movement comes in spurts.  She kicks a lot within 5-7 minutes and then again an hour later.
  • Today they have been kicking up a storm. Can't really tell who is doing what yet but it is a great feeling and am able to see the kicks now also.
DH loves to feel them. Can't wait until we can see little feet or hand impressions. :)

  • We definitely have a pattern. He wakes up with me or based on my alarm clock to get me out of bed. He will kick me for about the next hour while I drive to work. He will then wake back up for lunch around 12pm. He will then get very active when I finally get home and snuggle with DH. Around 7PM.

  • This little guy is very active. One day I swear I felt him all day long. I'll wake up in the middle of the night and feel him kicking a lot. He also kicks a lot after lunch for a while. I felt a big roll the other day for the first time, so cool!

  • She's definitely not as active as I remember my first being! I mean she kicks and moves, and maybe I'm still too early (and remember my first later on, because she was wild in there). Maybe I'll get a calm baby :)

  • I'm 20 weeks. I was feeling pretty constant tickling before. It's been pretty quiet, which was nerve racking, but tonight I felt a roll or like the baby was trailing a hand/foot across my stomach. Anyone else a little late in feeling harder movement?
  • Pretty active when he's actually awake, but that's mostly at night...when I'm trying to sleep ;)
