Bedtime Blues

A has been sleeping all swaddled up since she was born. She literally started rolling over at six weeks but we weren't going to break the swaddle so early - especially since K&A have been STTN since early on - so we just kept swaddling her. Recently she figured out how to roll over swaddled so tonight we were all set to put her down arms out. I had a glass of wine ready and have been psyching myself up all day. Usually both K&A fall right to sleep when I put them into heir cribs but tonight I was prepared for A to cry a bit and ready to work through it with her. Well, I just put them to bed. A was perfectly fine. K, on the other hand, screamed her head off for 20 minutes! WTF?!? She never does that! Doesn't she know she is the one who has been sleeping I swaddled for weeks now? Well, at least I had my wine ready and now that they have fallen asleep (FX) I am hiding out and relaxing for a bit. Growing pains are so rough.

Breaking te swaddle is the worst! Says the mom whose baby is STILL in a sleep suit. Hope they stay asleep and you enjoy that wine.

I'm sorry. It's nights like those when I am convinced they must have some telekinetic twin powers that allow them to conspire against us. Enjoy your wine- I'm certainly enjoying mine!!

Oh man I remember that change breaking the swaddle. For us it was two weeks or torture. Hopefully kndoes well the rest of the night. Have another glass of wine for me!

I couldn't get LO down for the life of me tonight. Finally did and already had to go in once and rub her back for a couple minutes. This on the heels of a horrible night last night. Ugh!!! Really not sure what the cause could be either

My twins have been going to bed at 7 pm for MONTHS. And waking up at 6 am. Tried a different routine tonight, and they went to bed at 9. Hoping this buys me an extra hour tomorrow...

Boo. Hope they slept the rest of the night ok and that A is embracing being arms free.

My DD was swaddled up until she was 9 months old, even though she could roll.  She just needed that coziness to fall and stay asleep.  We broke her of the swaddle, kind of by accident, because she had a little spit up on it and it was too late to wash it.  Instead I put her down on her tummy and she slept through the night.  She's still a tummy sleeper at 2 years old.
