procadia xl for contractions

So I was taking procardia 10 mg normal release every 8 hrs for contractions. After an US this week showing my cervix was a little shorter my DR switched me to procardia xl 30 mg every 12 hrs its an extended release. I took my first dose at 5 pm last night and again this morning. I feel like I am having more contractions than normal now. I don't normally really contact in the morning and I have been having them off and on. Not a crazy amt just more than normal. I plan to call in a bit after seeing what they do since its the weekend. I am almost tempted to take the procardia 10mg every 6 hrs cause she mentioned doing that but decided upon the procardia xl.

Has anyone else taken procardia xl for contractions? And did it work for u?

While I was in the hospital, I was taking regular procardia.  When I was sent home with my Rx, I had issues getting my insurance to cover it but they WOULD cover the xl.  Doctor approved it and I have been taking the 30mg xl once a day for 5 weeks now.  Seems to be working.  Although, I wasn't feeling my contractions to begin with.  I'll continue taking it until I reach 37 weeks or have the baby, whichever comes first.

That makes me feel better! I am glad its working for you. I forget, when were you placed on bedrest?

I was taking Procardia XL 30mg every 10 hours, starting at 28 to 35 weeks and it did help me a lot. The second I missed a dose or was a little late for my next one I immediately felt it.
