What are your favorites? DH and I are planning on watching one or two tonight (Thank God the World Series is over, amirite, @Mandmeesh?). I'm looking for inspiration.
I know. I'm ashamed of myself. It's just one of those movies that keeps slipping through the cracks. DH never wants to watch it with me because he's seen it a million times and I don't usually watch scary movies by myself. Because they're scary, yo.
This is probably a FFFC, but I have never seen that movie.
I haven't seen it either! Cree-ee-py!
Okay, to tell the truth I haven't seen any of these movies. I think the scariest movie I ever watched was the one where the scientists at the north pole dig up some ancient alien thing that possesses them. I don't even remember what it's called. Oh, and I also remember catching part of a movie about people who kept lowering stuff into a haunted mine. That one freaked me out for a long time, but I was probably 8 at the time.
The freddy kruger movie with a young Johnny depp is the scariest one for me! I never read scary books bc they are so much scarier and descriptive than a movie. The exorcist definitely creeps me out and the ring!

We watch TONS of scary movies every October and have seen pretty much all of the well-known ones. For some reason the Paranormal Activity movies really creep me out. More psychological and nail-biting rather than fake gore and guts in slasher movies, which I don't find very scary. And the PA movies always take place in the characters' homes, so it makes me afraid to be alone in the dark house!
I watched The Lost Boys last weekend. It wasn't scary at all, but I LOVE me some bad 80's movies. Especially when Keifer Sutherland is a bad Billy Idol look-alike. (BTW Who knew KS had so many middle names?!? Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland is a British-born Canadian actor, film producer, and film director.Wikipedia)
We ended up watching Trick 'r Treat because a bunch of people recommended it to DH. I thought it was awful. It was cheesy and not scary at all. I actually went to bed before it ended. Oh well.

Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
Or something different like The Devil's Backbone or The Orphanage. Those two are more about messing with your mind.
If you want cheesy or campy, Slither.
I love my horror movies, but then hate myself for watching them.
(ETA Do not confuse this with a movie called Skin and Bone which is apparently about male hookers.)
