I think I read a long time ago that size 10 is considered plus size in modeling. And considering those guys are a thousand feet tall, that could be a 6 to a shorter person.
That's just ridiculous. I would never consider a size 10 to be plus size. A 16-18, sure. That's what I wear. Whomp whomp.

I agree. It's still not true to what real plus sized looks like but it's still nice to see someone who isn't a size 2 on the cover. And, even thin models get photoshopped. That's just how it is.
What's the point of putting a "real woman" on the cover if you're going to photoshop her to death?
Not trying to be snarky but what would make her more of a "real woman" to you? I think she looks healthy. I know a lot of women IRL who are that size. Do I consider her plus? Nope but the modelling industry does because they're average woman is a size 0-2.

"Real Woman" is a direct translation of the titles on the magazine cover. I don't think the PP was thin shaming.
I think it's great that she's on the cover. I have an issue with this particular picture being labeled as "plus size." Why make that distinction if she clearly doesn't look like a plus size? Perhaps calling her "healthy" would have been sufficient.
Gorgeous woman without the photo shop. I wish they would have shown a more realistic image of her, but then again, even Giselle Bundchen gets made to look "more beautiful" and Jillian Michaels probably gets some extra abs photo shopped in. So, this is irritating for sure, but not surprising.
Real pictures of her show she is plus sized. It's gross that they photoshopped the hell out of her so she no longer looks plus sized and then call her plus sized. It makes us all feel like whales.
ETA: yeah, ok it's a step in the right direction that they don't have a size 0 on the cover.

Sadly, yes, this is plus size for a fashion model-- regardless if the photo is edited.
Straight size models are generally a 2- maybe a 4. If you are 5'8" or taller-- this makes your proportions tiny.
Also, plus size models have proportions that are very similar to straight sized models-- meaning that although bigger, their actual proportions are "perfect".
I would love to see more average sized women in fashion, but I honestly don't think it will hapen in my lifetime.

They put "real woman" on the cover. I was just using their phrase. She does look healthy, but she also doesn't look like she does in other pictures.
I just don't get why they'd have a "plus size" person on the cover then try to make them look as un plus sized as possible. And of course 10 isn't plus sized unless you're shopping at Abercrombie.
I think labeling her as "healthy" rather than "plus sized" implies that the size 2 models are unhealthy which isn't necessarily true. Healthy is different for different people.
Where size 10 isn't plus sized to the average american it is considered plus sized in the modeling world. So if they say she is a plus size model that is true.
I hope that we can continue to see more women like her in the fashion industry. I think it is definitely progress at least.
Size 10 is plus size in modeling. Haven't you seen ANTM? Either way, she is beautiful.
Speaking of "real woman," someone on the radio this morning was talking about how we use the phrase "real woman" as kind of a euphemism for a curvy or overweight woman, but if a guy is overweight, we just call him fat. He was saying that it is a double standard, but I also wonder if women have more societal pressure to be thin, and they are more sensitive about it, so maybe that is why we use "real woman" but not "real man."
FWIW I hated the term "real woman" when I was a size 00 because it implied I wasn't a real woman. I was just using the phrase that they used on their cover. I don't think it's fair to use the term "real woman" because someone is always goon to be not "real" enough.
I was size 10 pre-pregnancy and was happy with it, granted I was still about 10-15 pounds from my ultimate ideal weight. I have naturally wide hips and a booty regardless of if I'm in shape or not (I'm always like a full size smaller on my upper half than lower), so I'm never going to be anywhere close to a 0 or 2. Ever. Unless I'm a skeleton.
Hell I would LOVE to have my size 10 back, I'm still stuck in a 14 since having my DS... I still have my pre-preg pants though.... SOMEDAY I shall best them again! *shakes fist*
I read something saying she was a 14/16, but regardless she is very pretty. I agree with some of the PP who said she either lost weight for this picture or was massively photo-shopped.
Re: This is plus sized? Oh.
Yeah, I actually just googled and I see that now.
Now I'm rationally irritated.
