ultrasound bad news :(

I just had an ultrasound and the results aren't great. My (second) IVF may be cancelled, with the option of converting to an IUI on Sunday. I have been directed to continue my meds and to come back for another ultrasound on Friday. Needless to say, I am pretty upset and kind of losing hope altogether. On my first round, I went to ER early. I think I only stimmed for 7 days, triggered on day 9, because my eggs matured too fast. Fast forward 4 months and this ultrasound showed even worse results. I have 7 follicles now (down from 10 at my baseline on Sunday.) I had a couple measuring at 12 and one is measuring at 16 - too big for day 3- so once again I have eggs that are maturing too fast. Have any of you seen this issue before or have this issue going on now?

I am unbelievably disappointed. I guess I just want to know if there is any hope for an issue like this. Is it time to switch RE's since the same issue has come up again? I'm just at a loss.

I usually have one lead follicle that races ahead of the rest. My RE usually just let's it mature/hyper mature and we don't use that one as it won't have a viable egg (I've used ganirelix to not get the lh surge). Not sure what yours will do, but good luck to you and I hope it works out!

I had this, my RE let the ones that were going to fast go and we hoped that the other follicles would mature at the same rate..I had 2 at over 26mm the day before my retreival. one RE thought I had a cyst but my RE explained. Maybe you should ask if they will let the one go and hope the rest produce more mature ones together.

Maybe it will end up positive...I don't know. I think my RE's negativity about it just sent me over the edge. She just kept saying "that's not good." I am just tired of IF, like everyone on this board, I'm sure. Thanks to all for offering kind words/advice.

I can definitely relate to being fed up with IF. I went through this for 3 years due to male factor IF and finally found a dr that I was completely impressed and ecstatic with. Prior to him I was with a RE who just flat out didn't have a clue about treating MF infertility and just kept pumping me up with unnecessary Stims. Two years later, almost 30lbs gained, stressed out, thousands of $$$ spent and at my wits end, I finally decided to find another RE. After finding my new RE, I was able to bank 7 frozen embies over about a 1 year period (4 retrievals with minimal Stims - they do mini IVFs). I did my first single FET with them on 8/4/13 and got my first BFP on 8/11/13 (my bday!!). I'm now 15 weeks preggo with a baby girl and couldn't be happier. We still have 6 embies frozen for another transfer in the near future hopefully. That was our plan when we started with them bc I was 37 going on 38 and we didn't want to have to worry about the egg quality on top of the MF for future attempts. Hang in there, I truly hope it gets better for you.
