DCP gift

On Friday, Ds1 is moving into the preschool room at his DC.

His teacher from th toddler room had been amazing. I truly feel like she loves my son and she has helped me through some tough situations.

What would be an appropriate gift? She is young (I'd say 26-28) if that matters. I don't really know any of her interests and I would prefer a gift vs. a gift card.

Re: DCP gift

  • What about a nice basket? You could put nail polish, chocolate, lotion, fuzzy socks, ect.
  • I would do a gift card & card.... I love gc's!

  • imageI really like those warming pots with the tarts. That would be nice. Maybe you could find one like this?

  • Are you crafty? You could make her something. Or go in and take a picture with the two of them together and give her a frames copy

  • As a former preschool/toddler teacher I would go with a gc. I loved when I got gc, the one Christmas I got over $50 worth of Dunkin Donut gc was probably the best year ever.  I would stay away from candles, lotions, cutesy teacher things. You get so many of those things and never use them. I would included a nice card and note.

Why not a gift card? That's what people really want and many daycare workers don't make very much money.
A gift card to Target would go a lot farther than a couple of fancy candles or a box of chocolate.

ETA: If the concern is that it's impersonal, I think a heartfelt card is really your best bet.

  • DS really wants to get her a present and I didn't think she'd be able to open anything if I got her a GC. I'd rather get her one (much easier!) but I didn't want him to miss out on giving her a present.

I can just wrap the gift card in a little box so he can give it to her! Thanks guys!

  • What about a small plant (something that's hard to kill like Aloe) with a little sign that says "Thank you for helping me grow"?  That's what I did for teacher appreciation day last year.

  • I know you would rather give an actual gift-- but at that age either cash or a gift card would have helped me out immensely.  Hell, even now I would be stoked to get either.

I would get her a GC and write her a really heartfelt note in a card.
