No interest in solid foods

Anyone else have a baby that has no interest in eating solid foods?  I started introducing foods at six months.  Vegetable and fruit purees.  Food in the mesh feeder.  Soft foods on the high chair tray.  Baby mum mum's.  Rice cereal.  He wants nothing to do with solid foods.

I'm not overly concerned, I'm sure he'll start eating when he wants to.  Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation.

DS would eat anything and everything, but I've heard of some kids having no interest.  I would just continue to offer it, like you said, he'll eventually start eating!  Some kids are just ready earlier than others.

  • I'd just keep offering the food regularly. My boys never hated solids, but they didn't take to it like some babies do. It really took a bunch of trial and error before they found something they liked (happy baby puffs). Once they discovered how great it could be, they started shoveling food in their mouths with reckless abandon. And, you can always take a break from a food or feeding method and come back to it. For example, both of my boys hated those Kid.sme feeders until they started hard core teething. Now, I put cold fruit in them and they start squirming in their chairs with excitement when they see them. Same with avocado.

GL! I really stressed about food, but they eventually figured it out and have now quadrupled their birth weights!

  • Solid food before one is really just for play/development, so I think it's perfectly normal! DD's interest really picked up around 10 months, but I think earlier or later is totally fine. :)

  • J has mostly fed the dog until a few weeks ago (she just turned 10mo). Fwiw, we did BLW from the beginning and let her discover and explore. She seemed happy in her chair, so we just keep trying. I also have little knowledge of exactly how much she eats as she and our beloved pooch are in cahoots.

  • My DD#2 has been the worst eater of my 3 (I wouldn't have believed it was possible to get worse than my DS, but she did it!)  She didn't want to try purees and didn't like them until she was over 7 months - and then she would only eat pears or anything mixed with pears.  Eventually she decided she liked puffs, cheerios, mum mums and other crunchy things, but I can't get the kid to eat some pieces of banana, blueberries, or any other solid fruit or veggie.  And forget about cheese or meat...except meatballs.  For some reason she will devour those.   One day she ate a bunch of sweet potato fries, but won't try them again.  I am just hoping she will figure it out in the next month - I was hoping to be done with formula and pureeing things by her first birthday!
