Partial Line on Dollar Store Test?

This morning I took a Dollar Tree test and only a small portion of a positive line showed up at the very top. It was definitely enough to see it, but nowhere near a full or even quarter of a line. I also tested yesterday and there was  nothing in that area, so I definitely noticed a difference. I plan to test again tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anyone on here had ever tested and only gotten a partial line, and ended up still being pregnant. TIA!

Re: Partial Line on Dollar Store Test?

  • yes... i had a very very faint line- and it seemed to be concentrated in one area- take another, you prob don't have to wait til tomorrow- or get a digital- i know they are more expensive but there is nothing like seeing a definite "pregnant"- sounds like you are indeed pregnant- so hopefully congrats are in store :)

  • I got a result exactly like that, and followed up with faint but positive lines on another dollar store test and a first response that same morning.

BUT, I've also heard that that sometimes indicates a faulty test, so I don't know whether in my case it was a positive, or just a coincidence that I got a faulty test the first time I tested on a BFP cycle (if that makes sense).

digitals may not work if your levels are not high enough. they are not as sensitive. the best test according to studies is first response. they are the most sensitive to very low levels of the pregnancy hormone?

  • Thanks girls, this is really helpful. Do you think it would be effective if I tested again today after work or should I wait until the morning?

  • around 4 days past my expected period I tested with FMU and got a faint positive. I tested again a few hours later and it was a solid positive. I do not know where you are in relation to your expected period.
  • I got a faint line on a $ tree test with FMU, went and got a First Response and took it the same day and got my BFP. I just held me pee for about 4 hours before I took it.

  • oh sorry...didn't know- i was going off my experience cause i took a digital after getting a faint line on a regular one and it read it- it was 5 days prior to expected period so i believe that was still early to pick up on it?- and it was a first response i believe or may have been EPT?- but every body is different so it may not work for her i guess- to me, it is still worth a shot- i took like 10 of them cause the lines were faint for a few days- i was worried but all turned out fine! the first response early detection was one of the best ones out of the 10 that i took and showed a complete line- so try that one.
  • yes you can take it whenever they say- you are just more likely to get a better response cause your pee is more concentrated (therefore getting a darker line) if you get early morning pee- i took mine after work when i suspected something cause i was cramping too early- i held my pee for a few hours and tried not to drink fluids (cause then that will dilute your pee)  then took it- and it came out faint but a definite line

wow that was early! I was not being snarky - just so you know! I just read about a study and crap when I was trying for my BFP. I just dont know What early is? you know? I just know I waited till my period didnt come because the previous months i tested too early and it was always negative. i forced myself to not think about it, as if obsessing over it was keeping me from getting pregnant? LOL. I am weird. I do know that digitals are not as sensitive and it is best to test with first response...that is certain. ?

  • For a dollar a test, I figure "why not test?"  I've gone through a lot of tests when TTC cause I am very impatient and will test early in the 2ww.  I happily discovered the Dollar General tests "baby test" early on and have all of my BFP on them.  I went on peeonastick.com and they have been researched and found to be VERY reliable. That website is actually where I discovered the baby tests.  I have never had a "partial" line, but I have had very faint lines and turned out to be BFP.  Good luck!  But heck yeah, take one now, AND tomorrow am, it's only 1$!

no lol i know you were just trying to help! that is ok- cause i am no doctor, and i don't know everything about all the tests, so that is why i was going off my own experience! it all depends on your body, so it is hard to tell which one works for everyone- but i definitely can agree that first response early detection is the best one out there- its the pink one that reads one line or two lines (two lines=preg)-

and i think you may be right on the digitals but there was one that was an early detection (and of course i can't remember which it was- i think it was EPT?) so i tried that and it worked! lol when i went to the store i got 3 different brands cause i had been getting faint lines and i was frustrated so i wanted to see which one worked the best so in the future (when we have more children) i would know which one worked best for me and would just get that one :)

  • Oh, I just realized its Dollar TREE and not Dollar GENERAL...is it the same test?? I'm sure they are just as reliable!  what is it called?  Maybe go to peeonastick.com and if a lot people have gotten partial lines it will prob say that and how it turned out.  That website is very helpful.  GL!

  • the tests that gave me the partial lines were the cheaper ones from walmart- i know some ppl swore by them but i wasn't impressed- and the line doesn't keep longer than a few days to a week- (if you want to keep it- may be gross to some) but i still have my first response one and it still has the lines after 2 months (my bff kept hers and her son is now 2 1/2 and she can still see her lines)
  • Ok, I'll probably pick up a First Response after work today and give it a shot. Hopefully I'll be posting again on here very soon with my BFP! Thanks ladies! Big Smile

LMAO. I have mine on the edge of my bathroom counter looking right at me, so i can see it everyday. ?

  • It sounds like you are pregnant!  If the control line is good, then it is a good test.  I ended up using about 10 tests (IVF makes you a littel crazy), and I found the Dollar Tree ones worked the best.  They were the darker earlier than the First Response.

    Congratulations?
