Parker and Isaac. parker is in the lead as it has DD's vote...probably because she can't really say Isaac very well. But since it is my #1 choice, I am taking her vote very seriously! Dh wasn't crazy about Parker in the beginning but he seems to have accepted defeat. In reality if he hated the name he never would have given in, so my assumption is that it grew on him.
We are having a really hard time with this. I love Elliott and Asher but DH isn't on board with either and we don't have any others yet. Middle name will be William.
I'm actually thinking about bringing up names with H again tonight. We're mostly at a stand off because I'm stuck on what I really want and he objects to.
The most condensed story is this - my given middle name is Emerson (maternal great grandmother's maiden name). When I married I moved my original last name to the middle name position and took his last name as my own (which is traditionally done by my family). Knowing that I wouldn't have it as a name any more by the point I had a kid - I have always wanted to use Emerson as my daughter's name. MH hates it. The only real reason he has for this is because we didn't choose it together. I can't counter that argument - yes, it would be ideal to choose a name together. But - he has no strong feelings about any names, he's just picking at random from baby name lists. To me, that's not how you name a kid - to me, you choose from your family tree. So, I'm stuck and I can't get unstuck on what I really truly in my heart want.
We are thinking Aidan, even though it's popular, I don't know any. Middle name is up for debate. DH's dad died when DH was 23 and his name was Steven so it might be Aidan Steven.
Faye is MILs middle name. We always wanted to keep middle names family names. My moms middle name is Rose, which I love, but I don't know if it goes well with Brooklyn.
DH has loved the named Brooklyn since FOREVER. As soon as he knew we were having a girl, that was it. There was no discussion for him. Since I got pregnant I've heard other names that aren't as "trendy" that I like (Brynn being the #1 contender), but DH can't get off his original name. I still like Brooklyn, but back when we came up with it it wasn't as popular as it is now.
We (mostly meaning DH) did not have any names picked prior to finding out the sex yesterday. After talking about it last night DH X-ed my entire list that I've been compiling for a few years. We know her middle name will be Jayne because that it is a family name. The only name he brought up last night was Emma, but it's just so popular! Stuck for now, even after reading out loud to him names out of a baby book. He was really hoping for a boy and I think he had boy names in mind....

*sigh* I guess that wasn't very condensed was it.
Anyone have advice on how to get unstuck?
Can you use it as a middle name? Work a family name from his side as the mn? Pick a random mn together?
I have a friend with a daughter named Emerson. She spells it Emersyn, which I'm not a fan of, but I think it sounds lovely as a little girls name.
Jonathan Robert is our pick, we will be calling him Jack (or JJ, because that's how I've started referring to him in my head). Robert is H's name and FIL's middle name.
Although every once in a while I feel like I'm getting cold feet about it. FIL isn't helping. He keeps referring to him as Jackbob (said as if it's all one word), which sounds unbelievably stupid. I know he's just doing it to annoy me, but I'm at my freaking wits end with it and want to change it just to spite him, which wouldn't work anyway.
My husband and I both love the name, it's my grandfather's name, it's his first great-grandchild, we told him we were having a boy and naming him Arthur, it was a Lifetime moment.
Middle name . . . ? undecided. Vincent, Harlan, and Charles, all family names, are front-runners. But maybe we'll go for something else entirely. We think we're going to wait until we meet him. :-)
amymheidecker my DD is Mia Rowan, rough translation is "my little red one" as we thought she'd be a red head. I like your middle names because it would be like "my hope" "my faith" etc. Not sure if that's what you were going for but I love it.

Sorry. I'm laughing. Just roll with it. FIL will get bored with teasing you. Or DS will have an adorable nn between he and his grandpa.
Jonathan Robert is a strong, handsome name.
Thanks, haha! Hopefully FIL will be over it before he gets here, because it's making me cringe. DH and I thought there was no way on earth you could find something to poke fun at with such a traditional name, but here we are. The first of many times we will be proved wrong as parents
Our top contenders are Quinn, Carys, and Beatrice.
DH is staunchly in the Beatrice camp. It means, "she who brings happiness", which makes me all teary. It's absolutely fitting.
I love Carys, but I'm worried I would constantly be correcting spelling/pronunciation.
Quinn is awesome, but I hate cursive Qs. I would be damning her to a life of signing everything with that awful cursive letter.
Oooohhh, how 'bout Beatrice Quinn? I adore the name Beatrice, and some people (coughmecough) think cursive Qs are SO MUCH FUN.
If you like Leah for a girls first name I wouldn't use Leo if it is a boy...if you decide to have more kids and want to use the other name still it might be a little too close (Leo and Leah).
Archer is set in stone if it happens to be a boy (I don't think it is). We've been flip-flopping with girl names. DH had suggested Shelby early on, and I said sure. Now that I'm pretty sure it's a girl, I've changed my mind! My top contender is Ivy. Think it goes best with our sibset (of Lucie and Maggie) and is pretty unique. Hopefully will get DH on board with it soon!
