Preemies

Intro! Pregnant after 2 preemies.

Hi all.. Thought I'd do an intro before jumping into the mix.
A little history: DS was born in 2010 at 28w after spontaneous PTL. He stayed in the NICU 6 weeks.. No major issues other than hernias. He's currently going to speech therapy weekly. But other than that he is a happy healthy 3 year old.
DD was born in 2011 at 25w3d.. PPROM and PTL. She had a 4 month NICU stay w/ a lot of problems and scares. She is now 2 years old.. o2 at night and steroids daily.
I'm currently pregnant w/ number 3.. EDD 6/4/2014. It is extremely nerve-wrecking given my past experiences. But fx I will go further than w/ my previous and DH and I will be able to enjoy a healthy full-term baby.
**Sorry so long.. I tend to ramble.. Lol.**

  • Glad to hear your chickadees are Doing well!! I'm 28.5 and will go any day. I am afraid of having another preemie myself next time. Can you get a cerclage? Did you get those before? Sorry if this is an ignorant question. My mom had 3 MC at 4-5 months before me and my siblings. She got a cerclage with us and went to term.
  • Welcome! Wishing you an uneventful NINE months. :)

  • @Cristie2225 I don't think it was an ignorant question. But no.. I didn't have a cerclage w/ either of my previous. DS was my first pregnancy and we had no reason to worry as everything during pregnancy was completely normal. W/ DD my doc pretty much ignored my history and didn't take any precautions to prevent.. And I went to L&D twice in the week prior to delivering and doc still ignored the signs. Couldn't switch docs because he was the only one in a 100 mile radius.. Sucked for us.
This time I'm seeing an amazing doc who's had me in twice already and have my next appointment on Friday. He's planning on starting 17P at 16w and will be monitoring my cervix to see whether I'll be needing a cerclage.
I'll be having you and you LO in my prayers. :)
    @rkcaraway Thank you!
  • Welcome! I'm sorry you've spent so much time in the NICU. I definitely understand the fear. Our first DD was born still at 31 weeks due to unknown cause, and our second DD was born at 26 weeks due to suspected IC. We want to give them more siblings but I am very afraid.

I hope you can keep this LO cooking to term! Keep us updated.

Our Angel Patricia born sleeping 3/30/12 at 31 weeks
Our Fighter Anna born early 1/8/13 at 26 weeks
Hoping to bring home #3 due 9/9/15
  • @jbranden12 I definitely understand that fear. DH and I had decided that no more was the best thing for us to do.. But apparently my BC shot failed us. So this LO was a major shock. But we're praying and hoping. Have a great doctor this time around w/ years of experience w/ high risk.. So fx.
  • Welcome, and good luck!

  • Welcome and I hope you're able to carry to term this time, or at least closer to term! It sounds like this doctor is more on top of things.

  • Welcome to the board. Hoping that this LO stays baking till he/she's full term. I'm glad you have a better OB this time. I wish my OB would have been more proactive with my HR pregnancy. Sometimes doctors suck.

  • Congratulations and welcome to the board!
