Trying to Get Pregnant

First time TTC

I'm almost 24 with a beautiful 3 1/2 year-old daughter who was a big surprise. After delivering her I've had trouble trying to conceive/carry. I've tried twice since she was born (two six month spans at 6 months & 18 months). It worked once and then resulted in a miscarriage right around 11 weeks, my doctor said it was likely a result of high stress levels. I've waited 1 1/2 years to try again but this time we are both heavily committed to having a baby. Any tips/tricks for making it easier and keeping the stress away?

  • Thank you, I'll have to try that. I love photography especially when my daughter is involved.

  • Welcome to the board.

I second that a hobby helps. I like to run and that gets my mind off of things.

And as crazy as this sounds... I find I obsess a little more about TTC when I'm on this board. I start analyzing my symptoms a little more. I think I read what someone else is experiencing and my body makes me think that it is going through the same. This weekend I took a "bump break" and was a little less anxious upon my return.

Honestly, I'm having a hard time with the fact that your doctor blamed YOU for your miscarriage.

Me too. That's an awful thing to say and I'm sorry that you went through that.

For me, charting my BBT and such using Fertility Friend keeps me from getting too stressed because I usually know exactly what's going on with my body. That gives me less reason to worry about timing or symptoms. It may not be for everyone, but I definitely think it's worth a try!

Other than that, I just try to stay busy - take my dogs for extra walks or car rides, read, crochet, anything!

  • I am very sorry for your loss.

Painting and wine helps me de-stress. Especially both at the same time. Good luck TFAS!

  • Thank you all for responding! My most relaxing hobby is writing poetry or reading, I seem to have writers block lately and it's really hard to read when a 3 year old is tugging at the book. Wine does help me relax too but everything I've read about ttc says stay away from alcohol, is that true or just a myth? I'm definitely going to try yoga again, I used to every morning and night but I got lazy on it when I was 5 months pregnant with my daughter and never started back after I had her.
