Trying to Get Pregnant

~Born to Run, TTC~ (almost didn't make it!)

This is a weekly thread for runners who are TTC, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to talk about running while TTC, training, runs, races, gear, recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.

Anyone who posts here regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to be missing.

Hey ladies... How were your runs this week?
Do you have a DREAM place that you would like to race? IF money and time was no problem, where would you run??

Re: ~Born to Run, TTC~ (almost didn't make it!)

  • I didn't get a chance to run at all last week with my grandmother's passing. Got a decent 3-mile run in tonight and will continue to go back to "normal" as much as I can this week :)
If I could run a race ANYWHERE in the world, it would be Australia. I think the conditions would be pretty difficult, but I would LOVE to go run a race "down under!"

I'm sorry for your loss @lmdonnel. Good for you for squeezing in a run, especially when dealing with the loss of a loved one. @oursecretelopment I'm sorry your hamstring is giving you trouble. I hope resting helps!

Hey ladies... How were your runs this week?
My runs were good this week; I ran just shy of 18 miles. My Mom and I ran a 5K on Saturday and she did a fantastic job, especially with only having a month's worth of training. She ran for 3 minutes and walked for a minute, finishing in 45 minutes! I ran ahead of her, not only to see if I could improve my time compared to last year, but to also be at the finish line to catch her on video. I didn't meet my goal unfortunately because my shin splints started flaring up in the last half mile. Boo! Anyhoo, I still managed to finish the race in 29 minutes. As for my Mom, now she's looking for the next race. Let the fun begin!

Do you have a DREAM place that you would like to race? IF money and time was no problem, where would you run??

I really don't have a dream place where I'd like to race, mostly because I'm getting a little bored with racing and might take a break. But I do plan to keep running just for fun though.

  • Hey Ladies! @lmdonnel- I'm so sorry about your grandmother.

I got in 24 miles last week- it was a great week. 5 miles on Tuesday, 3 miles in intervals Wednesday, 6 miles Thursday, and my long run of 10 on Saturday.  I think I'm running a half this Saturday. My last race I mentally gave up and then paced my husband to a PR becase I didn't feel right gunning for my own. This race is on the trails I train on, so there's no excuses. I'm also not telling many people about the PR attempt because I put too much pressure on myself last time.  This is purely a mental strength race, I know I'm capable, so I'm trying to be mentally easy on myself this week- just being positive and taking time to be stress free and happy (if that makes sense).

My husband and I went to Spain earlier this month and went on a few runs there (Alicante, Pamplona, and San Sebastian). That was pretty much my dream. We did one route that followed the running of the bulls route in Pamplona (much better than actually running with the bulls, IMO). It felt like running in a postcard- loved it. I'd love to run the Chicago and NYC marathons....maybe even Rome. Someday!

  • How were my runs this week:
    Monday: 5 miles
    Sunday: Ran a 10k race.

I wanted to get out and run at least two other days this week but that didn't happen as I just had too much going on.  I decided last week to switch from the marathon to the half marathon on December 1st.  With everything going on right now I have not even been able to come close to getting the miles on my feet I need to run a marathon.

If I could run any race in the world:  The Two Oceans Marathon in South America. There are so many "dream" races though that I would love to run if money were not an issue that it is hard to pick just one!

  • Last week I only managed to get two runs in. 3 miles each. I was happy to get out at but my grandfather passed away last week and there was so much going on with my family I just couldn't find the time or energy.

I would love to the Rock and Roll Las Vegas where you run on the strip at night. If money and time were no object I would love to run in Ireland.

  • Hey ladies... How were your runs this week? The last two weeks have not been good for my running. Last week I didn't even post because I'd been sick and then last week DH was sick so I only got one 2 mile run in. :(

Do you have a DREAM place that you would like to race? IF money and time was no problem, where would you run?? That's a really good question. I've heard that the San Diego rock n roll marathon is really awesome. I also agree with @MissMandyD and would love to run in Ireland or just go to Ireland. ;)

  • Runs this week:
I'm just now getting back into running, so I did about 3 miles on Sunday. Not what I used to do (6 miles about 3 days a week) but it is a start

    Dream place to race:
Someplace that is about 60 degrees. In my opinion that is the perfect running temp.

I'm so sorry about your loss. My grandmother passed a week ago today, so I understand your pain. T&P with you and your family.

I definitely agree about the 60 degrees! That's what it was at 4:00pm today when I ran. It felt awesome!

  • Hey ladies... How were your runs this week?

I ran only twice although I did get to do my long run but I didn't run at all on saturday because my left foot was hurting and I didn't want to risk an injury.

Do you have a DREAM place that you would like to race? IF money and time was no problem, where would you run??

I would love to do a marathon in Hawaii.

  • Missed this yesterday!

How were your runs this week? Well, my running was fine, except for my stupid foot. I logged in 5 miles and died. I had to sit out of a 5K this week (zombie/obstacle run wahhh).  I have pretty bad plantar fasciitis, so I've stopped running. In the meantime, I'm rolling my foot on a tennis ball, walking with orthotics in my shoes, and I just had myself properly fitted for running shoes.

Do you have a DREAM place that you would like to race? IF money and time was no problem, where would you run??  Honestly, I wish I had taken advantage of when I was in Maui on my honeymoon. I didn't run at all, and the scenery was to die for.
  • How were your runs this week? Decent.  I was hoping to get back to around 30 miles but only managed 23.  We did do 2 nice beach runs, one of them being 8.

Do you have a DREAM place that you would like to race? IF money and time was no problem, where would you run?? I would love to start traveling for marathons more - Hawaii one day and Europe.

  • @lmdonnel - So sorry about your loss!

@mbRN83 - Have you ever tried running with the orthotics?  Years ago I had some PF issues and used the good feet inserts in my shoes.  They sell them at most running stores I think.

  • I ran 2 miles on the treadmill last night in 20 minutes! That's like a record for me! I'm trying to get my stamina up so next year I can run longer distances outside. June 2012 is when I started jogging, and I remember only being able to go a few blocks and needing to stop. Crazy...

I don't have a dream place really...I just wish I could afford to do all the local races around here, we have so many. I do a 5 mile night run only because it's the cheapest run and I've done it twice so far.

  • @marathonmommy11 I haven't! Thanks for the tip!
  • @MauiBliss - do you have an IM coming up??  That is so awesome.  It is on my bucket list, but for now marathon training takes all my time.  Hoping to do one in the future!
